New Movin PD announced

And the winner is...

Brandon "Maynard" Cohen from the KXLY Broadcast Group in Spokane.

Well, at least there will be one "Maynard" on the air in Seattle...

So let's see, they signed a gal for PM Drive that was known more for her stand-up comedy than her on-air work. They also pegged a guy for nights with no radio experience whatsoever, and now Sandusky hires a PD from market number #93. If all of these aren't signs of a station trying to be successful by spending as little dough as possible, I don't know what is. Boy I can't wait to see who they have lined up for mornings? I wonder if some morning show in Yakima has had their prayers answered!

Rumor is the kid that delivers Marc Kaye's newspaper has just signed a one year deal as the new morning show host beginning January 1.

Granted he's too young to know how to pronounce many of the artists on that station, but he is really helpful when it comes to carrying the roll-o-banner roll, and bad T-shirts for Mammaknows at appearances. And his signing bonus includes a years clothing account with Zumies to keep his skate boarding image intact.

Expect to hear a lot of terms like "Dude" and 'Stoked" used on the air.

Once again you guys are nuts... Maybe this guy is really good? Too much importance is placed on market size... there's so much talent out there without years and years of experience... doesn't mean they aren't awesome and doesn't mean Sandusky is cheap.

Just like those of you who applied for the afternoon gig complained when you didn't get it, again you washed up radio dorks who applied for the PD job mad again because they hired someone else...

I agree that we should wait and see about this guy and let's see how he does.

But the people who are mocking this move do have a valid point. It does fall right in line with Marc Kaye's reputation and style.

I'm with Average Quarter Hour on this one, just because he may not have the experience, he may be extremely talented. But the posts on this string (and any Movin/Sandusky string) make this board pretty amusing to read;)

Long time lurker, first-time poster.

The fact that he's a PD in Spokane doesn't mean he's not experienced...He had APD stripes for several years in Portland before moving to the PD position in Spokane...That's typically how the career progression goes in radio you know...you work your way up to the larger markets. Sorry if that doesn't work for your closed door society attitude.

He's done good things for the station in Spokane too.

I agree. How are you supposed to get to the larger markets without working your way up?

Now I wonder what will happen with the talent at MOVIN'? Will he keep the same people in place AND what will he do for mornings? It should be interesting to see.

Personally, I could care less if Movin has DJ's or not. I enjoy the music they play so much, that I would rather them not have dj's at all! It is, by far, my favorite music radio station to listen to.

I am going to assume you are at least 45 and probably over 50, am I right?

92.5 makes me want to poke my eardrums with a drumstick.

Dude, the music is just fun to listen to...I'm not saying they should be winning any awards, by the way, I don't know any 40-50 year olds who listen to that station...most people that I know who like Movin are in their mid 20's.

I am in my 30's is all, and it just reminds me of stuff the girls used to listen to when I was in Junior High. I'm just sayin ...

which means you listened to what? Wang Chung and Wham? Everyone has different tastes...why bash someone for theirs? KQMV is just another AC...you hear 80's, 90's and now...just like you would with KPLZ, KRWM, and any other AC station. If its crap to you, who cares?

To Me, Movin' sounds like a Top 40 station from 1989-90' with some newer stuff mixed in.

I don't believe its bashing, Miss Ilovebeer, anymore than you not caring about my opinion is. Movin is just like being at the mall or in an elevator, its background music.

Back in the day, Spokane jocks and PD's moved to Seattle all the time. Here's just a few...Larry Lujack, Andy Barber, Rob Conrad, Charlie Brown, the late Emporer Smith, Norm Gregory...

Of course, it didn't hurt that KING Broadcasting owned KREM, and Kaye-Smith owned KJRB.
