NEW MTV MOVIE "TURN THE BEAT AROUND"

MTV has a new movie- 10PM Eastern Feb. 26.

"Turn The Beat Around" is a throw back to the early days of Disco. The movie will feature several ROCKISH remakes of "Hot Stuff", "Get Down Tonight" and "Le Freak" among others. I can't see MTV doing Disco justice, but we'll have to wait and see.

I'd say the best movie about Disco in my book would be the "Last Days Of Disco." The CD was super wonderful.

I don't see it either (MTV giving disco "justice"), considering that when MTV launched back in 1981, disco was "buried" with the dirt still on top of the grave.

Here here. If anything, MTV was the anti-Disco. They didn't even want to play black artists. This whole "movie" seems a bit weird................kind of like Jerry Springer doing an after school special.

I suspect they are trying to re-write/white wash history as if Disco was a straight rocker thing, which we all know it wasn't. I think most of the Disco-Dance community would give MTV a D- at best.

The bigger question...would any of us that have LIVED during the disco era (late 30's - low 60's) even TUNE IN to MTV for this? Was the producer of this even alive himself? Or did he/she get their information from some rock dude in the suburbs instead of perhaps a young straight/gay clubber that followed disco station, WKTU, who lived in NYC during the late 70's?

What baffles me is why MTV would want to court the older crowd. I thought they were too busy focusing on how many times Snooki gets clocked in the face on "Jersey Shore!" Or some sort of "drama" regarding a text? ;D
