New music and mp3's

By now we all have dowloaded new music in one form or another. Radio has been riding the trend by streaming audio over the web and in some cases offering listeners free access to listen to new albums in their entirety. Its just technology catching up. Eventually you will be able to listen and then download them from anywhere including your car stereo. But we are not there yet. As Radiosaur mentioned a while back, we are not that far ahead with mp3's and the acceptibility to download straight from your car yet. The Yaris and a few other cars are mp3 compatible, but the neat thing would be to download a song straight from the radio station via mp3. But there are major hurdles to clear with ASCAP and BMI and lawyers and such that it will take a little time. I do believe radio will still be a cool thing to listen to once the tech stuff catches up.

That would be pretty cool, I never thought of that..but it would be a HUGE plus for radio when that tech. reaches full bloom. That is after the record companies come to some sort of agreement on the royalities and all of that yada..

Don't count on the record companies and the RIAA loosening up the rules for any of this pie-in-the-sky stuff anytime soon. The way they are going after internet radio and devices like XM's Inno, it seems like they want to keep a tight control on who gets to do what with the music we hear.
