New Music on Magic 106.7

The stations niche is that Magic will not be the first station that you hear a new song on, however more times than not, I do in fact here a song for the first time on the station. My question is what criteria do they use for deciding when a song is heard elsewhere? My thinking is that movies even count when they consider where a song is heard first, but I do not know.

I thought that Magic's selection process was based on the AC charts, which is usually a few weeks behind the Top 40/CHR charts?

I actually don't think their process is based on the AC charts, and it's not necessarily a few weeks behind. There are several songs/artists that do very well on the AC chart but have little, if any, success on the pop chart. I don't think I have ever heard Josh Groban played on Magic, and I remember a few years ago when Hall & Oates made a comeback, they had a hit called "Do it For Love", which made #1 on the AC chart, but Magic never even touched it.
