New Name For The Zone 93.7

I have listened to this station for about ten minutes at a time a few times throughout each day. That's about all I could tolerate. It's a BIG disappointment. Maybe it should be called 93.7 The Joke. Or it can be called 93.7 The Flop. They can even change their call letters to WFLP for FLOP FM. I give this station six months at best.

18 months then it will probably become a Sporting News Radio FM station until something better comes along.

12 months...18 months...I'll meet you in the middle, say 15 months.Next summer the station goes back to its roots. No not B-94...how 'bout WJOI Joy-93! ???

Put a fork in it! 12 months and gone! 93.7 has become what 104.7, and 100.7 used to be. Frequencies where no formats work. But in time, they'll find the right one. This sure isn't it!

It's nice to hear such negative reaction to the new station. I must confess, I haven't even turned to the station once! I'll only listen if they start playing pop music again. Maybe they should just admit they made a terrible mistake and bring back B-94.

I like the poll idea. How about another poll on the first talk show host to leave the station? I am thinkin....Mcyntire will be the first to go, he was an awesome political talker but man, he stinks as a entertainment 'male' talker. I think if they would of brought Hoerth in and made him update is routine, he would do better than Mcintyre. Though while Hoerth is an awesome talk show host (well was back in the 80s at WTAE) and he reaches the male audience, he is what as some of you say, " past his sell by date" and it has only been a week for McIntyre and he still deserves more time.....but I say 18 months until the next format change.

I say Dave Demechek who is broadcasting out of LA until his wife has a baby in the next 4 weeks. I say he doesn't make it out of LA.
doesn't make it out of LA.

Don't you think that if Hoerth could, he would have by now?

Yeah Todd we agree on this one. Dave Damechek will be the first banished from the Zone. McIntire and Paulsen will probably be there until the end of the format.

Get the idea? :D ;) (hint, there is nothing in the space above)

So what did WTZN run during the weekend? I tuned in around 2pm and heard some lame sports show - I think they said like "Bob and Bob" or something stupid.

Sporting News Radio all weekend. That'll get 'em to listen.

Oh well, might as well continue the game. Feeball makes his umpteenth disparaging comment about the new 93.7 because he can't get over the fact that it isn't playing his fave rock songs any more. Then I respond with something along the lines of "Without media promotion to potential listeners, no one will tune in to sample what they're putting on the air regardless of what it is". Then Radio Boss has to chime in with some sort of snide comment about me being the one who always says the same thing.

And so it goes.

I listened to it on my way home from work last night, and was enjoying it. Much better than leaving work and hearing Loveline. Its nice to hear SNR on local FM instead of static from AM with ESPN or FOX locally.

And, I am a former K-Rock listener who was sad to see it go. But, I guess if feeball hates it, therefore we all must hate it too.

Well so far Realist you have struck out because Boss has not said anything yet. Yes I was upset back in August when I pretty much knew K Rock was going into the toilet. But it is a business and as a business they must move on. The comment that I made was an answer to a post on another board in which I predicted this was the road they were going to travel. It makes sense to use this being that they mention having sports programming on their station. In fact, I will even go one further and say that if the talk personality aspect of the station does not survive, they will go into 24-hour sports talk mode.

Also, just because I don't like something does not mean everyone else should follow.

It's Easter Sunday. Maybe he hasn't logged in yet.

Sorry, I guess you were addressing Dionne Warwick's friends. They're the only people who could have known from your post in this thread on this board that you were replying to a post on an entirely different board.

BTW, using clarified butter makes it easier to make a good Hollandaise sauce. That's my reply to a post on another board.

Why do I even bother? Obviously this is the only board you read. If you read any of the other boards, you would know what I was saying. And I use the same exact screen nameon other boards as well. Oh wait, I guess since I am supposed to be pissed off because I can't hear Soundgarden's "Pretty Noose" at 2:30pm that anything I say has no merit in here. Whatever! To be honest, I really don't give a damn what you think. If I piss you off, so be it.

This is horrible. Krok was my main station.

The X plays a good song every so often. 97 and 101 have one or two rock songs per hour. Other than that, I'm pushin' buttons to find nothing, then popping in a Van Halen or some other rock CD.

The Opie Show is unlistenable. Miller's OK in small doses and has even made me laugh. Paulson's much the same. McIntrye is so far out of his element he's sure to get the boot after this Dave character I've never heard of. The girl seems trainable, but a sissy should not host a 'man' show.

Why is not someone filling this huge radio hole?

Why is not someone filling this huge radio hole?

Because not enough people that advertisers want to get their messages to want to listen to that type of music on the radio. Radio can't compete with satellite, iPods, in-dash CD players, and other alternative forms of music distribution to reach that market anyway, so they abandoned it.
