New Name for WPHL-TV

I remember Channel 17 from when i was in that area 14 yrs ago or so.........

I also have it on VHS coming in on a skip one night here in Albany a couple years ago........ It was a rainy night, about 2 am and the local PBS station (WMHT 17) signed off and i was getting a faint/weak signal.....I recorded it and it was WPHL!!!!! I hadnt seen that station since 1992 or when i was down there!!!!!!

I was getting it over the cable system NOT MY OWN TV... So apparantly the cable co was pulling 17 OFF AIR and thats how i was able to get it in..... (They were just above the cable co's video filter, any weaker i wouldnt have ever known they were there)

The only other time i got any DX on the cable was another night that year WHEC (channel 10) from buffalo came barreling in for about 3 hours.. (Crystal clear for about 1 1/2hr or so) I got 3 shows on tape 1 after the other........ All in the family,Cosby show and i forget the one after that but thats when it started fading into space..............And finally below the video filter :(

Now all the locals are 24hrs so that wouldnt be possible :(

But the HIGHEST FREQ. dx i have ever seen is channel 40 from NJ skipping in every night in Devon. (Thats where i was in PA)

I hope WPHL's quality doesnt go down the tubes with this change!
