New NASCAR award honors WDEV's Ken Squier

To honor the contributions of media in the success of its sport, NASCAR has created a new award named for racing announcers Ken Squier and Barney Hall. It will called the Squier-Hall Award for NASCAR Media Excellence.

First two radio announcers I heard call a NASCAR race in the early seventies.

Hall is still going at it. As an aside if you visit comic Ron White's website, there should be a clip of his appearance in the MRN booth at Talladega. Worth the search.

I did hear Ken call the race on the In-Track broadcast at the Atlanta Motor Speedway a couple of years ago.

I saw Ken in the role of Mean Gene on "RU Faster Than A Redneck" the other day. The show is on the Speed Network. What a treat it was! But, please, someone tell the show's producer to throw some compression on Ken's mic. You can barely hear what he's saying.
