This from newsblues.com. After a parade of short-term news directors, Erbach actually lasted about three years. Oddly, he was jovially bragging about this ability to survive to me five days before he left with no explanation (except perhaps, a really really bad May ratings book).
Steve Schwaid has been named "Director of News and Digital Content" (news director) of Meredith's last-place WGCL-46-CBS in Atlanta (Market #8). He replaces former CNNer Rick Erbach, who left the station suddenly on May 29.
Schwaid arrives from NBCU, where he was senior VP news and programming and oversaw news for the O&O group for five years. Most recently, he was SVP for strategic growth and content initiatives at NBCU. He was also the "team transition leader" for the conversion of KNTV-11-NBC in San Jose to an NBC O&O. Schwaid is a former ND at NBC-owned WCAU-10 in Philadelphia (Market #4), NBC-owned WVIT-30 in Hartford (Market #28), and WGME-13-CBS in Portland, ME (Market #74). He starts July 7.
