New Night Guy at Hot96/WSTO

Radio and Records reported yesterday that Brian LaRoche has come to WSTO from nights at WNOU in Indy. He debuts on-air next Monday, Oct. 20.

Also, perhaps the bigger announcement:
"Stand by for an announcement about our new morning show in the next two weeks!" [PD Jason] Addams shrieks.

Every radio text I ever read always warned against a shrieking PD. That is scary stuff.

Will WSTO go the route of WSHY and put Imus in mornings? <g>

"The Atom Smasher Show" He comes from KHKS KISS FM DALLAS. Should be exciting!

I'm pretty sure those are shrieks of joy on the PDs part!!!

Syndicated from Dallas, or live in Evansville?

No VERY live!! He was victim of budget cuts or something at KHKS. HOT 96 and the Tri-State are VERY lucky to grab such a jock. Hopefully listeners will give him a chance and don't write him off instantly because he isn't Booker and Sarah!

I was going to ask if he was the same guy who worked at Kiss 99 Indy around 1980. But if he is 32 years old today that means he was four years old back then so I doubt it.

So he will compete with Kidd Kraddick on Kiss 106.1, Evansville that is.

Atom Smasher was in Houston, hosting mornings with Maria Todd, prior to his stint in Dallas. He isn't much to look at, in my opinion, and in that regard, well suited for radio, but I always enjoyed his show. There are many in the Houston radio market who were very saddened to see him leave and who felt he received a bad break, here.

I think it's funny, yet so "radio," that we, in Houston, get Booker & Sarah and now, you'll have Atom.

Enjoy his talent.

Sitting down the hall at WIKY, I would look forward to hearing things that "Smash" on the northwest corner of radio heaven... I would be ironic! Book-&-Sar in Huge-Ton and "A" Boy in E'ville? We all await with baited ears... I am too old.. Ol'Smash of Saint-Louie and Indy fame is a hero! His old "Roadmaster" band was a winner in Indiana rock and roll.. Toby Meyers came out of that band to join Mellencamp for many years...
