New nights @ KBKS?

I haven't heard Keola in 2 weeks and that's a long vacation. Did they get someone new? He's not even on their site either. Is he headed over to KUBE or going out of the market?

Late May seems like the wrong time to get rid of someone, so I'm guessing he left for a new gig.

There was an earlier post saying he got fired or something. Too tired to find that post. But scroll down a bit and I'm sure you'll find it.

Anyone have any info on this? I don't even see an ad on All Access for the position. With the new afternoon guy and now this, I can't imagine they'd wait much longer to hire.

What were their numbers vs. KUBE and MOVIN at night? I wonder if that had anything to do with it, it seems weird that they'd let someone go without having a new jock ready to go.

they posted this about 2 weeks ago but i haven't seen a repost or an announcement. kube has very solid numbers with the night time players. #1 in their demo i believe. movin isn't too far behind. firing keola definitely wasn't a numbers thing though. if kbks was going to fire jocks based on numbers there would be a few others who would have to go first. plus dave mcdonald fired keola without marcus d even knowing until after. he must have f'ed up something big. i just hope they get someone in there soon to kick lori mack out because her show has no flow whatsoever. her phoners make no sense and her voice kills.

I don't know why Keola got fired, but he was a pretty awful jock anyway. Everyone seemed to think he was good though...must have been something f'd up if it came from above the PD. I think Lori Mack is doing a great job, she has a great sense of humor and uses the phones well. I'd rather listen to a funny woman than an obnoxious loud mouth any day!

Who was the person working nights at 92.5 that many on this board thought was greatest talent who ever grunted a station slogan? Wouldn't that person be a strong candidate for KBKS?

Just to let you know, I am only filling in for nights as there is a post in All Access and a job search for a new night person at KBKS. I had never done nights up until I was thrown into it, and of course constructive critcism is the best thing for new talent to grow, however extreme language such as " her voice kills" is not only hurtful, but detrimental to any improvement on my part. I probably should just ignore your post "Ilovebeer", but honestly as I was skimming throught the posts I couldn't help but take it to heart. I am new and young and I have a long way to go before I get to where I want to be. I've grown up in Seattle, I went to Nathan Hale participated in C89 and I was hired by Preston straight out of highschool. People do read these posts, and what you say has a significant impact.

Well said... Most of the writing people do here is diatribe. Rather than offer any ideas or solutions, they type what they can come up with, which is hardly original, in some poor attempt to stir the pot. Rare to offer anything "constructive" but only to further propogate the same re-hashed negative attitude that people like yourself have worked against since day one. Kudos to you Lori.

Consider yourself in the ranks of people who have been slammed here, and you should be proud of your accomplishments.

Hey, Lorre....

Hang in there!! One of the most uplifting things that ever happened to me .... I was in the process of getting canned by King Broadcasting. One of the admin's there was an absolute sweetheart and gave me a "good luck" greeting card. In the card she wrote "you're joining the ranks of some pretty cool people who have been tossed out of this place before you" ... and listed many names I absolutely worshiped in the Seattle broadcasting game. It turned the "negative" into a great big "wow...I'm in a pretty cool club".

So in that regard, you've now joined the likes of Kent & Alan, Bob Rivers, Ichabod and many other market veterans who have been dragged through the mud by people who can only HOPE they get 1/100th the career any of those folks have already had. So....congratulations....chin up...and as I love to tell folks, "Don't let the ba$tard$ get you down!!!!" Good luck in your career! Doin' nights at a CHR in Seattle is something you can be very proud of doing...especially right out of high school!!

Au contraire, mon frere. I've been listening to Ms. Mack in the evenings & I think she's doing great. The show doesn't sound veteran but give her some time (and I hope they do) and the show will settle into a fun groove. Right now it has a little of a fill-in feel as she has had to just continue all of the features of the prior show. But she sounds good. Her phoners make as much sense as any of the other goofballs that call that station.

I think that evening slot on KBKS calls for some sort of a call-in hour. A younger, hipper "Delilah" for the younger set. Some phone calls & stories & dedications... that kind of thing. But I'm just an old fuddy, so whatta I know?

Lorre-

From someone who also started at KNHC in high school and works pt for CBS/Seattle...You are doing a great job! I've been in the position you are, filling in while a position is advertised, hoping that you get the gig, but staying realistic about your chances. Don't let the negativity get you down...I think you sound like you are having a blast and really understand how to work the phones. Hang in there!

Lorre. You got to get a thick skin in this business. This board will be the least of your worries as time goes on. Wait til you deal with sales pukes, GM's that don't get programming and of course jealous jocks. You sound great, thought you did on overnights too. You are exactly what KISS needs to pull out of the toilet or they will flip format for sure. Work on smoothing out your sound without losing your identity. Come up with some benchmarks, things you do well each night that the audience can grasp. bye the way the killer guy at 92.5 was Matt Case. Word is he is happy as a clam at IVars as a producer at THE WOLF. Lorre, you don't deserve critcism, just support. Kent and Alan, Bob Rivers and Ichabod deserve to be whacked from time to time when they sound lame and tired. They are supposed to be the "best in Seattle" The "Veterans." From time to time they have flashes of their past greatness. Rivers had a killer Winter book. But times are changin and Lorre you may get to be part of the change. Don't let em get ya down. yeehawwww.

No offense to Lorre (and from what I have heard she sounds talented), but TakeItFromMe you must be smoking crack if you think a night jock is all that is needed turn a struggling station around.
