New NOLA Pirate

87.9 MHz Ultra right-wing talk, conspiracy theories, antisemitism, discussions of gun confiscation, fundamentalist Christian talk. Signal very strong near L&A Road and Earhart Expressway. I suspect transmitter may be on the West Bank, but I haven't had time to DF. I've got to hand it to the operator(s): as nutty as the content is, the audio quality is pretty good!

When I saw your thread I though it was the one calling itself WMED, usually heard in the Bywater all the way to the Fair Grounds. They were playing everything from Hindu music to middle eastern music. That was a few months ago. This one that you found is a strange one. I wonder if it is from the ashes of the Hatian Pirate that was in Harvey a couple years back? I am interested to see what the output power it is on this one.

After a little low-tech DFing, I determined that it was not on the West Bank (although it is receivable in Westwego), but probably is in the area near the bend in Jefferson Highway downriver from Ochsner Hospital. This station does not ID, but seems to just relay Internet programs including something called "Truth Frequency Radio." LOTS of antisemitic and white supremacist talks. I heard the other station in the Bywater, but never heard an ID (mostly just sitar music).

a popular channel 87.9 for rogues. somebody gets on it from time to time here in Bossier City, down south near Lake Charles Mexican music blaring on 87,7 almost covers up a weak pirate on 87.9

I have noticed the Mexican music on 87.7 MHz in Lake Charles. Suspicious, this is a Pirate radio station? I had assumed it was just a Non-commercial station in Texas thats signal had somehow crawled into the LC market due to Tropospheric ducting.

Its a LPTV station illegally running analog as a radio station..(KIPS-LD)...their STA for analog was cancelled in August of last year but they have not returned to digital TV....also there is a 87.9 pirate in Houston...but cant talk about that per Frank's rules
87.7 is NOT a FM service channel...87.9 is channel 200 and only has two licensed signals on it in the US...its used only for displacement of Class D FMs when they get bumped by a FS signal....
