New oldies station on The Cape

According to allaccess.com Skynet's silent WGTX is now Dunes 102.3 "Cape Cod's Oldies Radio". (Skynet's??????????? Never mind that's besides the point unless John is holding out on us)
One of the owners is ex-Boston radio personality Ron Robin. According to Wikipedia the music will be 60s, 70s, & early 80s. Website says coming soon: http://www.dunes102.com/

They're running ABC's "Oldies Radio" Satellite service right now. I think it's better that they're running that, and not just some lifeless automation that most new stations start out with these days. They'll probably eventually have some local people on.

like every other oldies station that has run on the Cape, their big challenge is convincing the limited pool of advertisers that their audience is not sentimental 60 year olds. Yeah, I know, they say they're targeting 25-54 women, but they'll need a heck of an ad campaign to build cume and try to pull those chicks away from COD and QRC.

With 3,000 watts coming from Truro, I dont think there's much chance in that happening.

And the radio ad spending pool is already thin down on the Cape - even the stations that sell 9 bucks a unit are struggling.

However, as a fan of the oldies, I cant wait to tune in.

Listening to the signal bouncing across the bay........good signal, rather strong.. I hope it works, classic rock and oldies from what I hear
and they are dune 102......not 102.3 in jingles..guess they know how it rolls off the tongue..is that why cool 101.9 rolled over on cool 102???????.lol.
