New Omnia 6EXi preset

I wonder if you have had any experience with the 8500?

I've just had one arrive and I'm quite excited to replace our aging Unity 2000i. Its version 2.0.3

Is this the latest software with the new AGC config? Do you have a preset that would sound good for an Easy listening format that I can start with?

I have made adjustments to 8200's and 8400's, but I have not had an 8500 in my arsenal to play with, so I do not have presets for that one.

:(

I like playing around with Omnia because I have the ability to get in and modify parameters that are *not* available on the GUI (display screens), so I can make some truly unique presets that no one can duplicate with any amount of adjustments via the controls available on the screen.

This also means that adjusting the on-screen controls while using one of my presets yields a very different "feel" and response from the Omnia. It's like having a different version of the processor in your rack when you load up one of my presets.

If it were just a set of on-screen adjustments, I wouldn't feel the need to share as anyone could just dial in the settings.

;D

You are sooooo BAD.Thanks for the presets that you so kindly share. They rock.Do you suggest updating a 6 to the EXI version, even though the station is not doing HD or needing the diversity delay?Currently running a 6ex with 7.25.
i think the upgrade is around a grand.thanks for sharing your time.

Another amazing preset Mr. Gould. The smooth and rock presets are on seven of my stations. Yesterday I sent the smooth preset to several college / NPR stations that I know use Omnia 6 exi. I'm going to send you a CD of the talk syndication we were talking about. K

Thanks!

A really nice feature to the EXi version is the Lo-IMD clipper. That allows you to have much lower IM distortion for the same level of loudness.
One of the areas where non-EXi Omnias sometimes run into trouble is situations where there are female voices on top of bass-heavy material...either in song, or female DJ's talking over a dance "Thump" track where the voice tends to "break up" on bass thumps.

It was one thing that started to drive me a little batty, to be honest, then Frank came out with the Lo-IMD clipper, which REALLY tamed that problem BIG TIME. What I'm not 100% sure of is how compatible an EXi preset is with the Omnia 6ex. I'll have to cal Mark on that this week. These are the reasons why I make a point of specifying the Omnia6EXi.

Thanks, and cool! I'll look forward to having the program material in the arsenal to help come up with more preset options ;-)

I loves me a good challenge!

Talked to Mark Manolio today, and he says that the presets I'm creating on the Omnia 6exi will run fine on the Omnia 6ex.

The thing to keep in mind is that the clipper optimization in my presets assume you are using the LoIMD clipper that you get in the 6exi,
so you may find yourselves having to tweak the bass clipper / clipper drive a little bit to minimize bass in to mid induced distortion on
some material. I don;t go crazy with the clipping on these presets, but that doesn;t mean there won't be material that could get you into trouble on the 6EX on these presets.

Several 6ex users report great results, and have no complaints.

Feel free to get back to me via my website with your results. I've been getting quite a few reports so far. Enjoy!
