New online streamer: Hot 102 Online

For those who remember WLUM/Milwaukee from its "Hot 102" days, Wellstream Media, LLC. has revived it online, this time mixing the current Dance/Rhythmic hits with Party hits from back in the day. Check it out for yourself...

I caught a half hour DXing of Hot 102 and recorded it during the winter of 1988 from Lansing, Michigan! 10 in a row, Hot 102!

Loved it!

Ive know about this station for awhile,, I think its awesome, but I think they should have stayed true to playing what the original Hot 102 played from 70-94,,,,,,, Great Station though,,, All in all I give it a thumbs up,, I always remember them as being more of a Rhythmic,, in fact in the later days it was modeled after KPWR,,,, good eye though Mr Moore. ;) :)

Goota agree with Clubber here.
I think the station was on the Urban Contemporary panel until the mid 80s when they began adding more Pop titles, and even crossover Rock hits from the likes of Van Halen.

Here's how they stood in the ratings in late 1985, and in mid 1986

They were on the Top 40/Dance panel towards the late 80s, and both a Rhythmic and Mainstream CHR in the early 90s. By late 1994 the station had evolved to a Modern Rock outlet.

Here's how they were doing in 1992

Here's how they were doing in the latter part of 93

Ive got an old tape of This station from summer of 91,, and at the time they were pretty dance leaning,, so was a station in Lake County Illinois that you could hear on 102.3,, they were both called Hot and played the same kind of music. Both stations were awesome.

I love this!! The inclusion of production elements from that era -- jingles and Bumper Morgan (?) sweepers -- are what make this station stand out.

WOW...they just played Sir Mix A Lot's 1996 remake of "Jump On It" -- the song where they refer to various cities across the U.S. by area code! I thought I was the only one who remembered this great song!

"Phoenix, Arizona puts the heat up on ya, I should warn ya, the girls as fine as California..."

So very true :)

would love to hear them please .... love the dj from back then ... when rael djs .... that do all the work no Fing pcs then

I listened on a long road trip the other night: songs by Xpansions, Musto and Bones, a lost LL Cool J "I'm That Type of Guy", Nightcrawlers, Kim Syms, Wow!!! Old B-96 days here. Sounds great. Love it. Great VO guy and what a blast from the past with a few goodies from today thrown in. Great station!!!!!

It gets even better: Katalina's "DJ's Girl", Front 242's "Headhunter", Miranda's "Your Love Is So Divine", Sagat's "Funk Dat" and even Benny Benassi present the Biz's "Satisfaction" are also showing up on that station. For a station with a 1,000 song library they sure are wasting no time using them.

I agree with everyone. No wonder why my musical taste are so wide range. I practically grew up on Hot 102 thanks to my parents. Someone said they kinda wish they just stayed to the 80s thru 1994 but I disagree.

I think the point of the station is how they feel the station would have sounded had they not go mainstream top 40 and then alternative in 1994. I am sure the songs from the mid and late 90s to today would be on Hot 102 had it still lived today. Why WLUM did not think of this idea as their HD2 station, who knows but glad someone came up with idea. And the original liners makes it even more of a trip down memory lane!!

Just so many great memories. When I listen I feel like a kid again.

Midwest, I totally would like a copy of your Hot 102 aircheck if I can get it. I might have one somewhere too so let me know if you might be interested in trading.

Awesome station!!!

I love sharing airchecks but unfourtunately it isnt marked and I dont have a cassette player that still works. :(
