New Opportunity Chattanoog

New Opportunity for self starter. Soon I will own an AM/Translator in a small suburban market near Chattanooga. The Translator will change to repeat religious programming from another FM. The AM is News/talk in a small town in a market area of about 50,000 or so. Not much radio competition in the area nor many FMs. Looking for a self starter to daily run the station, doing all. Current billing is low and the station is just idling. Will work a deal better than an LMA on a profit sharing basis. This is a real opportunity if you like small towns and AMs. The station has pre-sunrise, post-sunset and nightime. Local sports opportunity has not been explored. The station was once a major part of the community and could be again. Would like to return the heritage call letters, Call T-Bono 972-977-1522, 618-466-3569 or E-Mail at [email protected] Want to talk?

I wish you luck on your new venture for this AM station. If you take the FM translator away from it you will probably be ringing the death bell for it. Since it is just idling you or the next management team will have an uphill battle trying to reestablish it credability within the community and getting listeners back to the AM band is almost impossible. Not to say there aren't any heritage station on the AM band doing OK or better, they are out there but few and far between. I take it by your area codes your located in the mid-west so it looks like the translator will be a satellite FM for something out of town, another thing that I am not fond of.

You kind of had me getting a bit excited for a moment, and then I hit this "rumble strip" across the highway.

If he will see you, if he will talk to you (even if you have to pay him a consulting fee.... ) Wander east a few miles and sit down with Art Sutton and discuss this part of your post.

My memory is that Art has been pretty steadfast in proclaiming that once a heritage AM is allowed to tarnish and rust, it's pretty close to impossible to bring it back up to strength as an AM only.

Could this be the ol' WBPS, Bridgeport, AL? Just asking, I wish you the best.
