New Orleans: POWER 102.9 "Nonstop Hip-Hop"

Finally, a 2nd choice for Hip-Hop and R&B in Da N.O beginning 7/3/08 @ 10:29am. Just in time for Essence Fest weekend all over New Orleans. Hmmmmmm, Rickey Smiley in da mornings??? I believe they'll actually be billed as CHR/Rhythmic, but Urban in reality.

You're partially right. R&R says it will be a Rhythmic, but it'll be "Big Boy's Neighborhood" that will take the morning slot.

Id love to give this station a listen... I think it will probably be a true Urban, but will be billed as Rhythmic for Adverts......... This station is much needed down in the Big Easy,,, they have at least a 65% black population, but until now only had one Black CHR Urban to choose from.. How good is the signal in N.O, I hope it covers the whole metro and the surrounding Rural Areas where alot of Blacks still live... Now that N.O has two Urbans, it might make sense to make one of them a (PEOPLES STATION) and get out and raise charities for the future,,, while one of the stations becomes a Mass Appeal Rhythmic catering to both Whites and Blacks, something like B-96 in Chicago,,, but not so conservative and female skewed as B-96

Wow,, Already,, Media Base was quick on this one.. Ive sampled this stations stream, and its actually pretty good. I usually find the Urban-Rhythmics from the south always play my style of Hip Hop, similar to 95.5 The Beat in Atlanta, or 102 Jamz in North Carolina...

I agree. BTW the playlist still has those country tracks, but its starting to show a few Rhythmic R&B/Hip-Hop currents, so we'll see how it changes during the next few days.
