New Orleans TV station.

WWL(CBS) and WDSU(NBC) are still on the air. WWL is broadcasting out of Baton Rouge and WDSU is out of Orlando. As far as I know, all other stations are off the air.

WGNO is broadcasting from WBRZ in Baton Rouge. No idea about Fox 8.

Also, a slight correction on WDSU ... they're actually based out of WAPT in Jackson, Miss., right now. The folks at WESH in Orlando are just filling in from time to time to give the WDSU crew a breather. All 3 stations are owned by Hearst-Argyle.

I compile the list and republish it a few times a day. If folks find other streams, let me know. There are tons of people displaced who are absolutely hanging on to the WWL website looking for info.

When you says such and such a station is broadcasting from Jackson MS, or where ever, you are referring to their news right? What I am getting at is the transmitters are still working right. In other words if I had a battery powered TV I could get the TV station over the air.

They are cities of license. I am not sure where their transmitters actually are or if they are in operation. I think most are in service - just the news teams have been displaced.

Some WWL staffers have supposedly returned to the facility in the French Quarter, but how much actual operation is taking place there is a good question.

I've heard little on WVUE, save that staffers were operating out of 'current' sister-station WALA in Mobile at one point. And I haven't heard a thing about other stations-WYES, WHNO, WLAE, WUPL, WPXL, etc.

It's my understanding that only two OTA signals are on right now - WWL and (with some interruptions) WDSU. I heard from WUPL's engineer today that the tower in Lacombe (on the north shore) is still standing, but that the studios in Metairie haven't been occupied since Sunday. They're on the fourth floor there, so there shouldn't be damage to the studios themselves. WUPL is off the air, however, as are WYES, WVUE and WGNO. No solid word on WHNO, WLAE or WPXL, but it's a pretty good guess that they're not on. <P ID="signature">______________

I deal with LaSea so I can report that WHNO's "studios" (they mostly relay programming) and offices were totally destroyed by Katrina, but the transmitter and antenna are intact. They were estimating a month before resuming operation, but that is almost certainly optimistic as most of the city will still be empty then.
WLAE is off the air as well, but even if they were on, they'd simply be relaying WWL. I have no idea about WPXL.

WDSU showed its transmitter site yesterday and there was water up to the roof of the building housing all the electronic gear. So I'm guessing the only people getting them are cable subscribers since cable operators can take the broadcasts from Orlando and Jackson via satellite instead of over the air.

WDSU is webcasting only. I'm picking it up on ku-band satellite, which I assume is the feed coming out of Jackson MS. WDSU anchors are in Jackson. Occasionally they have Jackson's anchors on, and a fair amount of time the coverage is coming from Orlando.
On Wednesday night, they mentioned they were working to get back on the air in NO, apparently using an operational transmitter belong to another station. But I haven't heard any more mention of that today (thursday) so apparently they haven't been able to get something in operation OTA.
WDSU has been running some news programming from NBC, and right now has MSNBC on, but mostly it's been local coverage, and very good.
