New Owner for KTRN

There isn't much competition left in Pine Bluff.

2 stations? KTRN, KCAT, and a new am @1190. KJJI which should be on the air soon if not already on.

Flipped over on KTRN 104.5 for a few seconds, same old bird-fed AC dribble its been broadcasting for the past 15 or so years. Is there a format change anticipated or just the status quo?

As for KJJI 1190, its COL is also White Hall. I don't recall hearing the station, but I don't listen to much AM radio during the spring/summer months.

Checked this afternoon, nothing from KJJI 1190. I did hear a 1190 station out of Dallas early this morning w/Laura Ingrham, but that was some left-over skywave propagation.

The other two stations owned by this individual are black gospel, and there's already such a station in Pine Bluff (KCAT 1340). Whom in their right mind would even attempt an AM'er in 2012 which will be essentially a daytime station.

There will be a four FM cluster that includes KTRN, 99.3, 101.3, and the new CP for 98.1 (Altheimer). As you may remember the FM signals that went dark under MRS Ventures were auctioned off in the last round as "new signals".

There goes 3 FM DX frequencies, especially 101.3. I can hear adjacent KZTS 101.1 on its smaller signal w/o the former KPBQ 101.3 on-air. Hated back in the mid 1990's when I would lose KDRE 101.1 entering White Hall and driving south due to adjacent KPBQ.

I'm hopeful for some decent local radio in the Pine Bluff/White Hall area which is undeserved. Even Monticello/Warren AR has a bigger media presence in radio these days (KHBM 93.7, KGPQ 99.9, KXSA 103.1, KWRF 105.5 + the KUAR translator on 94.5 in Monticello).
