New Palm Coast station

98.7, thought it was suppose to be country. It's like a Adult contemporary and the audio is awful. Perhaps growing pains but why but non-broadcast quality on this frequency?

I miss WMMO and WKTK when I'm in Calm Post, I mean Palm Coast. ;D

Exactly do you REALLY think that is the real format or final transmitter, power and equipment? Stations run in a test mode sometimes for weeks leading up the launch date. While doing so they're liable to play just about anything from the archies to 1000kc tones, sometimes it's not even through a transmitter, just an exciter while they make freq adjustments etc. Time will tell.

From Ron Charles;
WAKX is in a very low power test mode no processing using an exciter in mono. About 14 watts out the Shively 6813 two element nondirectional antenna. The coverage is virtually county wide. The audio heard are just test loops and many times an hour mentions of an engineering test are embedded into the repeating hour to hour twenty minute loops. Music is not in any way representative of the intended format. I expect to have the final tuning of the antenna completed by Wednesday evening, if plans go smoothly.

Previous engineering tests for our other stations included jazz, polka, soul and 70s bubblegum just to throw audio on before the intended format launches...

What is going to be interesting when the Country Format Launches is how much GOLD the station will play and How Far Back will they go???Will they be 70/30 New to Gold or Closer to 50/50...Will they go back beyond the 90's??? There are a lot of ways you can go with a Country Music Format.

As an interested observer, so far, Flagler County Broadcasting has created and established 3 very good radio stations in the Palm Coast area. It would be my educated guess that they will do Country right, as well! :)
