New PD @ 101.9 KQXT

From R&R:

King Returns to San Antonio

George King, who recently vacated the PD chair at Clear Channel country WMZQ/Washington, D.C., is headed to the company's San Antonio cluster as its new OM. King's departure from WMZQ was due to the ongoing restructuring throughout the Clear Channel chain, which recently combined the D.C. and Baltimore trading areas.

King will oversee country KAJA, where Clayton Allen remains PD, along with CHR/top 40 KXXM, news/talk WOAI, sports/talk KTKR and Texas music-formatted KRPT. He will also serve as the PD for the company's AC KQXT.

Prior to his service in D.C., King programmed Cox Radio's KCYY/San Antonio and Clear Channel-owned KNIX/Phoenix.

King starts his new gig on Monday, Nov. 27.

Well, good for George. But once again the talented and savvy Jim Conlee gets overlooked.

ok wait... he's going to have all that responsiblity and not just KQ's pd????? ???

What does an Operations Manager actually do?

I bet it's sweet revenge for George King since he was very vocal about why he left Y-100. Too much interference from Roger Allan and the GM.

I would think KQXT would be one of the easiest stations in the market to program: VTed in most dayparts; a fairly static playlist and Delilah in the evening. Push the big button that says "Auto-Pilot" and it's feet up on the desk time.

The only challenge at this time of year is figuring out which versions of "Jingle Bell Rock" get played. ;)
