New PD at Sunny

A new PD on the way for Sunny. TJ Holland is a pretty good guy. Just wondering if there are going to be any major changes, or will that wait until the new year?

As far as music is concerned, the answer is already clear since this is Columbus:  No major changes now, no major changes after the new year. But yes, flipping to Country is always an allowable exception to the local stagnation requirement.

I heard he was changing it to Viking music in honor of Ed Christrian.

Why would he flip a rating powerhouse like Sunny 95 to Country? It has to be doing just fine in billing too. Come on now... WCOL IS the country station for Columbus. Why compete?

Oh, and with Tony out, does this mean he's done at MIX too? Or is he just the PD of Mix?

Let me get this right. The goal is ultimately to take every station in Columbus to either a country or talk format, right? ;)

You almost hit it right on the nail! Sunny is gonna flip to... Country Talk! You get to listen to Conway Twitty & talk about your John Deere farm equipment all at the SAME TIME!

Yes, I'll bet that's it.  Can't wait.  But "Sunny" won't fit anymore.  How about, "Cryin' in My Beer 95?"  And then the Brew would change to some Country format as well, to get revenge on Saga for the beer reference.

Of course, jharmon may have been onto something as well, but it would have to be Viking Country.  Since Norway is supposedly one of the happiest countries on earth (having all that oil doesn't hurt...), they could still call this particular approach Sunny.

I swear this board is full of jokers... lol... but seriously, is Tony done with Sunny or Saga as a whole? Interested to see if there'd be any changes in Mix.

Tony is no longer with Saga. The company's press release welcoming Holland also thanks Tony for his contributions to the Columbus cluster.

I don't see any changes to Sunny 95 when he starts, just like I don't see any changed with WNCI whenever they hire a new PD.

Once again.... third time's a charm... what about Mix?

Mix 107.9 is really not a player given the marginal signal.  Now, if Saga somehow managed to upgrade the signal (which they can't), they wouldn't just waste it like CC wastes 93.3 (which  is a huge failure even in its indefensible attack-dog role).

Jammin: read the sarcasm in their voices here...Sunny will not change to country.

Dose he also have programming responsibilities for 104.3? If so, what changes, if any, will he make with that station?

Also, will he make make any programing changes across the hall at 107.9? I would like to see them ditch their satellite programing in the evening in favor of a live and local DJ.

ga, as much as i'd like to hear live and local on 107.9 after 7, it's not likely due to the signal limitations, and Billy Bush is probably cheaper than hiring someone locally to do the shift, especially since after 7 most of the Hot AC audience disappears anyhow(At least that's what I was once told).

I agree with that one 100%. Nothing against Billy Bush, but he's not local and I've never heard of him before. After Trisha Moore signs off in the evenings, I'm pretty much done listening to the station for the day. If they wanted to save more money they could just go on auto DJ after Trisha locks the studio door for the night and not pay for Billy Bush.

FWIW, I personally share V's viewpoint on this one. Nothing against Bush, but auto-DJ would be more consistent with the format.
