New PD at WBT

  • Thread starter JOHNNY on the RADIO
  • Start date

In addition to WSYR AM-FM he is also the PD of the Rochester combo WHAM 1180 and WHTK 1280. WHAM is another 50 KW blaster and a heritage station much like WBT. What ideas will he bring from the Clear Channel empire? Going from 4 stations to 1, they mush have made him a very good deal.

Jason's a second generation programmer. His dad, Alan programmed at WSYRand others in the Syracuse CC cluster a few years ago. Jason's probably will have his hands full at WBT, since it seems the inmates have running the asylum for awhile now.

The question is what can be done to increase the cume of a typical left leaning talk station? WBT's cume was very low the last time I saw it.

What changes do you think we will see with a new PD? Does anyone get replaced? Will Keith Larson's show gain a bit more focus and less of the music and sounders he is known for? Will WBT loose any of the local hosts in favor for national hosts? This last question is one to think about with 1660 going sports at the first of the year.

Under Program Director, Jason Furst, WHAM/Rochester has been on a downward trend for over a year. Latest Summer ratings show the station, once a regular contender for the number one position 12+ book to book, with it's lowest ratings maybe ever with a share in the mid-6.0s.

His Syracuse station, WSYR, fared better ranking number 2 in the most recent ratings available.

Should be interesting to see what he brings to WBT.
