New PD at Wild 105.7/96.7

Here's the press release as the parade of PDs at Clear Channel Atlanta continues:

Clear Channel Radio – Atlanta names JB Wilde as Program Director of Simulcast WWVA-FM/WWLG-FM, Wild 105.7 & 96.7

Atlanta – March 31, 2011 – Clear Channel Radio Atlanta today named JB Wilde as its Program Director of rhythmic CHR simulcast WWVA-FM/WWLG-FM, effective April 11. Wilde is currently Clear Channel’s Program Director for CHR WMKS-FM and Rock WVBZ-FM in Greensboro, NC. In his new role, Wilde will manage day-to-day operations of WWVA-FM and report to Operations Manager Dan Persigehl.

“Radio has been my passion since I was a kid,” said Wilde. “I’m looking forward to working with Dan and growing Wild into a force on the radio dial. I can’t wait to join the team!”

“JB’s leadership and track record of programming success across multiple formats make him an excellent choice for this position “, said Operations Manager Dan Persigehl. “I look forward to seeing the impact JB’s enthusiasm, experience and creativity will have on our Wild staff.”

Wilde’s career in radio includes assignments in Lexington, Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Albany. He is a graduate of Penn State University and a native of Long Island, NY.

JB WiLDE. How Ironic....

For certain specific reasons, I have a good feeling about this, but don't want to say too much too quickly right now. Besides, remember what happened the last time I had a good feeling as things were beginning to look good... Anyway, you already know that I will come back and address this later on down the road and explain it more thoroughly. For now, I'm just saying I believe this will most likely go well.

Funny that CBS Radio didn't do the same thing with Dave FM. Their three PDs over the years have been named Michelle, Mike and Scott!

Rodney throwing some funny around... Nice

Does WWVA still have a morning show? I'm about to go to sleep and too lazy to check at the moment, so hopefully by the time I wake up there are answers here. I did a quick random check and noticed an unusual amount of songs played during the morning, and I'm very positive that the Elvis Duran show didn't just suddenly become "that musical".

It's possible. Even Bubba the Love Sponge started playing music on his morning show.

I finally saw a WILD billboard today along Bufordy Hwy in Doraville. The layout could've been way better in my opinion. It has night jock Mami Chula on the left, logo center and 3 different artist right side.

The one I saw on Clairmont had Maverick on it. (They've obviously been working on this for a while.) I realize the station has a fairly high Hispanic composition, but I still think CC is making a mistake by using that signal, which does well in Hispanic areas, for WILD at the expense of the station they could get more Hispanic revenue from, El Patron, if El Patron had a strong signal in Gwinnett. And I think they're making a mistake with WILD because 105.3 would make them strong throughout Atlanta, which 105.7 is not.
