Greene Named PD At WURD/PhiladelphiaAfter a few years out of radio working at his own grassroots marketing and promotion firm, former Gospel WDAS-A/PHILADELPHIA PD RICK GREENE returns to the business as PD of crosstown LEVAS COMMUNICATIONS Talk WURD-A. GREENE tells ALL ACCESS that "I am simply excited about the opportunity to work with such a great company."

Changes in PDs often mean changes - possibly big changes - in the on-air product. WURD has been criticized for sometimes militant or anti-White programming. Much of the station's schedule has been in the hands of Black activist groups. It will be interesting to see if the station takes a higher road - and a more commercial road. In recent Arbitron books, WURD has not registered, although it did show up in the Fall book with a low fractional share and dropped off again in the recent Winter book. WURD is a daytimer and the former WFLN-AM.

This station must be taken off the air, sample ONLY 15 minutes and you will be amazed at the anti-white/asian and American hatred that is being spewed at this rats nest. Many groups have went to the FCC to oppose this station and nothing has been done. You have Cody the crook, who owes the city of Philadelphia over 2 million for putting WHAT in a hole still at the helms in some way. BTW WURD's daytime signal is equivalent to 5kw, it gets out over 50 miles, with its illegal pattern and power, at night, they upped power and pattern to cover a 25 miles radius, especially in the black communities, where it can fuel its hate fire.

So, RockIntern admits he is/was KlassikKountry.I do agree that stations like WURD and WHAT should be removed from the air once and for all. Imagine if white people ran a radio station that spewed out hatred towards black, oh excuse me, African-American people. Every Praise Blackie and Kill Whitey group, along with so-called Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, would be marching through the streets of Philadelphia with riots breaking out. And those stations would be off the air immediately.

Yes, I know this is the Philly board but I wanted to add to what Kountry said. Concerning the rap format in NYC: Look what good that's done. The carpenter's union that owns the building where Hot 97 is located wants the station out of there. But the fools at Emmis are fighting it. Are the corporate stiff-necks at Emmis too blind and stupid to see the problem here? Yes, the problem is the people who Hot 97 bring into the station to promote their rap. Then rival rap groups/gang members get pissed and start shooting bullets. The problem is Hot 97 for bringing these people in there, and the problem is also these rap/hip hop artists aka gang members. I am not being a racist. Skin color and ethnic background have NOTHING to do with this. But nowadays, you are deemed a "racist" if you don't like the rap/hip hop genre of music and their so-called "culture."

Meanwhile at New York's other hip-hop station, Clear Channel has just fired half their morning team for making on-threats against a rival DJ's kids.This isn't just about race - or hip-hop, it's also about the nature and culture of jock radio and personalities who keep trying to push the limits and be ever-more outrageous.PS: Emmis' two other NY radio stations are in the same space - CD 101.9 (Smooth Jazz) and and Kiss 98.7 ("Classic Soul and Today's R&B"). And Emmis has been ignoring the security problem at Hot 97 for a long time. Under court order, visitors to the station require four days notice, a rent-a-cop is out front and there's a phone so he can call 911 when shooting starts. That's sure to make the landlord feel better. :Meanwhile Emmis has bought the Washington Nationals and their stock is up.

WURD TODAY, JUST AS I SUSPECTED

Guys, I tuned to WURD, just to hear if there was any flack about the slain officer. Can you believe they were complaining about all the positive coverage, because the officer was WHITE, going on to say, that if he were black it would be swept under the rug. Its about a human life, NOT RACE, but these so called bleeding hearts will never admit it. This is insane, the poor officer was slain in the line of duty by some *body and they have to still complain about a race issue. What about Mummia, OJ and the DC sniper, they all walked because of race. We get blamed for being racist, but everything they spew on the airwaves is racist. It cannot be disputed, if this were reversed, Jesse * Jackson and * Shapton would be all over it, with the help of the ACLU. Radio should be controlled and if not, should be fair and square and have opposing views, if WURD can spew, so can WPHT.[edit: * no derogatory comments please]

Back to original point:They have a new PD with radio experience.Does this mean some of these things some of you complain about will change?Given his background, WURD will likely remain with some kind of Urban format, but what?

Point being, OJ was guilty and walked, Rodney had over 20 incidents with the law before and after his beating and was never tried, the video tape never showed him going after the police with a weapon, just the beating. Mumia and the DC sniper will never fry, who wants riots, Moussaoui beat the system and when they catch this recent cop killer he will probably get life and be out on parole in 5 to 10. The liberal media will see to it that race plays the final hand. Its just the one-sided Democratic controlled media who runs the show, not the oh so bad Republicans. Look how Saint Kennedy's DRUNK exhibition is kept from the front pages, after all his Dad is a non-convicted murderer, responsible for Mary Jo's death. To answer the original post, I do hope WURD flips to some sort of religious format or just runs CNN like the original plan 5 years ago.

Let's not forget that there are also some pretty radical ideas coming from predominantly white right-wing stations....some of which could broadly be described as "rascist" by some individuals. This would include the station I work for. I wouldn't agree with such a charge, but I could see how someone who has an anti-conservative bent might think so.The reason you will not see the FCC get involved here is that it has a "hands off" policy on programming -- unless it violates their obscenity and indecency rules. Consequently, it allows a lot of latitude. I think that is the right attitude. In a marketplace of ideas, there is room for all -- well, perhaps almost all .In so far as a double standard is concerned, when I lived down south, believe me, I heard A LOT of white racist talk on the radio. It's there, maybe not in Philly, but it is on the air. RT
