New PD for KNST

DCRTV is reporting...

BAL Radio's Josh Leng To Program Tucson Talker - 5/11 - WBAL radio producer Josh Leng becomes program director of news talk KNST, a Clear Channel AMer in Tucson. He spent the past 10 months as producer of "The Bruce Elliot Show" on Baltimore's 1090 AM.... Leng previously worked at LA's KFI and KTLK. He got his start at Grand Rapids MI's WOOD and WTKG.....

I worked with this cat before in Cali. Sharp kid who's all about News/Talk. Guess you'll find out soon if he brings the KFI touch to Tucson.

This board looks pretty dead - kinda like DC's - so I wasn't sure if the word got out in AZ. I'll stop eavesdropping now, back to your normal conversations.

Although, one has to wonder just how cheap they bought him for? Looking at his resume he seems to be nothing but a glorified board op with no management background? I feel sorry for Jim Parisi, watch your back.

He's got to what on KWFM? Ok anyway, I know that a lot of you are Big AC fans just like me, and maybe it wasn't a fair trade but that has yet to be seen the guy doesn't even start until next month. Thank you to those who have been decided to welcoming and let me join you. Best of luck Josh. To the rest of you: SO ____ING WHAT if he is a board op? Could there be room for someone to actually move up in this business? Is possible that those of you that are already down on this guy are old fogies that have refused to grow and learn with the industry? Are you the geezers that spend 90% of your time looking through slitted eyelids of suspicion at everyone from the OM to the Janitor as a threat to your cushy four and out air shift that you know is tired. It is dragging your sorry sacks around that makes it hard for stations to turn a profit, don't give me this economic downturn stuff, we knew the score before this new "crisis". Lets give Josh a chance to rise or fall on his own merits. There is enough nearly-dead-air coming out of the empty shirts around this market to choke a horse. In the mean time if you honestly think that the phrase "I've been in this business long enough too..." is a good argument tell your PD to hold-on for a second, walk out of his or her office, slap yourself at least 15 times and think about what you just said.

I wish the new guy the very best of luck for this position.

I too interviewed and fully accepted the multiple roles of PD for KNST and afternoon drive for KWFM. However the Clear Channel payscale (or lack thereof) was something I was not willing to accept and decided to look elsewhere.

It's sad too because there seems to be quite a bit of potential within that cluster.

Should anyone be interested as to what CC had to offer, drop me an email:
