New PD for The Wave

Angie Handa, the APD and MD at KYOT among others, is the new PD in Cleveland. Mike McVay consults the station. I'm a little slow but when did McVay Media get into smooth jazz?

so WNWV isn't consulted by BA? i thought they were a longtime BA'er? i've always wondered why they seem to play a lot of songs other BA'ers don't.

I wondered the same thing when I saw that McVay (or one of his staffers) was going to be on the SJ panel at RnR. Handa has worked with BA a lot. McVay's A/C clients are sooo exciting I can't wait to see what he does in SJ. Our A/C here improved 150% when they dropped him and went with Burns. Ratings went up too. ::) Then again, with the format headed toward being a really lite A/C in the near future it makes sense for McVay to be getting a toe in the water. What is probably in the works is an A/C format that is more EZ than mainstream A/C (which sounds like hot a/c 10 years ago) but doesn't play Bread and Air Supply like some of the 45-64 oriented A/Cs do (Dove in Tampa, Sunny in St.Augustine/Jacksonville)

WDUV is almost 100% 55+, and mostly 65+. That is why they are first in 12+ yet 14th in revenue in the market. I don't think anyone is developing that kind of format... more likely an AC/smooth Jazz alternative that is less 55+ than current encarnations of Soft AC are.

This is probably a reaction to the PPM, where, for example, The Wave in LA is not even in the top 15 25-54.

17th right?

D.E = even tho there wkly cume is higher - did they just lose out to stations like KFI/KHHT due to TSL?

Yep, in 25-54 that is the rank.

Nearly everyone's cume is higher, since PPM picks up hearing as well as listening. But the TSL did not do well on the Wave, and cume did not increase as much as other stations.
