New pirate in Alcoa area? Max 107.1

Strong in the Alcoa area but fades when you get up to Pellissippi Parkway. Playing '80s & '90s music and some sweepers calling themselves "Max 107.1"

Anyone else catch this? I don't know if it's new or it's been around, but I just noticed it this week.

Translators can't broadcast original programming, which this station is doing. Also the signal is weaker than a translator or even a LPFM.
 
Talked to a "group" who said they were going to do a pirate station less than two months ago...yep they were in B county and they are funded. Kinda thought they were just talking though.
 
I guess the playlist isn't that large. I can only hear this station for about 5 minutes on my way to and from work, and I don't listen every day, but already this week I've heard Vanilla Ice's "Play That Funky Music" twice.
 
Tried to hear the station for the last week. All I can get is a weak signal right in front of the airport, lasts maybe half a mile. Sounds like a part 15 instead of a pirate.

I don't know. Can they be heard at the airport? I don't know the complete range of the station, but I know the signal gets down to where Hunt Rd meets Old Knoxville Hwy/Broadway Ave. That seems fairly wide for a part 15. Perhaps a part 15 modified, which of course would make it pirate. ;D
