New Pirate on 106.5

There is a new pirate as of today on 106.5, the origin is Southwest Philly, very strong and in stereo, cutting into WJJZ. Its Reggae/Jamacian, plus its running gospel ads for Southwest Philly area meetings. This makes two pirates with the same format in the area, 97.7 and 106.5. I always wondered with the lack of service for Metal, Rock and Alternative formats, the pirates are always non-rock and are formatted to inner city people, even though there are many formats on the legal band to service them.

Re: New Pirate on 106.5 MORE INFO

On my way through Yeadon, PA on Church Road to 69th and Chestnut Street near the Tower theater, the signal almost blew out my car speakers. This pirate was really pumping out the power, they have to be located in Delaware County on the Southwest Philly outskirts. I informed WJJZ of this and they said they will take action. Anyone else receiving this Jamacian/Reggae pirate. They must be either using high power, or be located on a tall structure. I cannot receive the 99.3 pirate anymore, they are so weak, WJBR kills them.

As of this past Thursday, roughly 9PM, I was in the parking lot of the Metroplex in Conshy, sitting in front of Barnes and Noble, and I was able to pick up 99.3 clear as a bell, albeit your tuner won't stop on seek.

Weird processing, are they using MP3's or are they using some high tech processing to make it sound as if they are running the station through a stereo chorus guitar effect/stomp box? I loved the old time jingle montages.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: WIBG Radio 99(.3fm)

Now only if we can get one of these pirates to play Metal/Hard Rock/ Alternative and New Wave/Punk :), we would be in business, but then the FCC would go out of their way to bust them :(. I would think 99.3 is coming from Mont or Bucks County, one day last week they came in pretty well in South Philadelphia but that was it, one day.
