New Plans For Football This Fall On Versus/NBCSN

A couple of announcements recently on the part of NBC for coverage of football for this coming fall on Versus. First, they revealed their plans for college football, including expanded coverage of college football with a new studio show called "College Football Live" and pre- and post- game coverage of their college football games.

Today, in a partnership with NFL Films, they announced a new NFL-linked show that will air on Thursdays, starting Sept. 15 @ 10PM, called "NFL Turning Point". This will also air on Versus. The plan is to help showcase the teams that will play on that week's Sunday Night Football game. Once the NFL Network puts on their Thursday night games, "Turning Point" will move from 10PM to 12AM. Both hours on Eastern Standard Time.

Another sign that NBC is getting more serious about programming Versus.

....and they are about to blow past CBS Sports Network that had a two year head start as CSTV and CBS College Sports Network.

Only at this years March Madness did the mothership even acknowledge the existence of its cable TV's little brother.

A black eye delivered by a Comca$t led Peacock...

I'd imagine NBCSN will likely develop Olympics-themed programming, now that they're back in the Olympics game.

CBS Sports Network still has the SEC content working for it, including replays of the SEC on CBS game of the week. But to your point, Versus/NBCSN has more than twice the distribution.

So is there any chance that this could eventually work toward NBC itself carrying more than just Notre Dame games on Saturdays? Not necessarily this year, but in coming years?

Possibly, these Notre Dame football appeals a small but rich audience that might be more profitable on cable

Umm.....I hate to say this BUT Versus has been around MUCH longer than CSTV/CBS Sports Network has ever been. THAT is why & how NBC Sports/Versus is catapulting itself past CSTV/CBS Sports Network

Besides, when you really think about it, NBC Sports/Versus really doesn't need College Football to get past CSTV/CBS Sports Network as they have the NHL. College Football is just the proverbial cherry on the proverbial sundae :)

Err....WRONG AGAIN !!!!! Those games went to TNT, TBS & TruTV

Actually it's more of a case of CBS Sports SHOOTING ITSELF IN THE FOOT than anything. Comcast had nothing to do with that

Cheers :D
