NEW POCKET WIRELESS INTERNET RADIO/MP3 PLAYER!

Has anyone figured out if you can use it to get any internet radio station, or is it limited to the Yahoo versions?

These products will be here sooner or later. I read today that London, England will fire up its new city wide Wi-Fi system within the next week. At first, it will be limited to the central city, but it will expand rapidly. That's progress.

Of course, there are already Internet radios out there. I recently purchased a Roku M-500 which is a discontinued model. It is a very remarkable device which is easy enough to use that my mother-in-law could figure it out. It works either wired or wireless and has a very nice wireless remote control. Absolutely one of the best things I've purchased recently.

I've owned a Roku Labs "Soundbridge Radio" since Christmas and have never turned it off since. It nows has a built-in database of over 2000 Internet radio stations, 18 presets, AM & FM. It has a huge database for owners of over 7000 stations and the radio sounds great.

Look for, I hope soon...the Torrian Wireless "InFusion" handheld Wi-Fi Internet Radio that can pick up over 10,000 stations. It was set to debut soon, but has yet to be released in the US, but is for sale in Australia.

I got my hands on a SanDisk Connect at Circuit City two weeks ago. Nice unit, but is limited to only Yahoo Internet Radio. Didn't by it.

a british internet station been advetising the internet radio/mp3 player for sometime, i did not know it was available here also.

I want to comment on the Roku R1000 wi-fi radio. It's one of the best things I've gotten for myself in some time.

It looks good, sounds good (makes streaming sound better than you would expect) and it has a pretty decent AM/FM radio section as well. No need to tie up a computer pulling down streams when this internet appliance can sit and run.

It's really quite brilliant.

Amen, Uncle Fester (and Chuck)! As one helping on the Roku database, I'm glad there are now a few of us posters saying good about the Roku radio and Roku products.

I found out yesterday that the Torian Wireless "InFusion" handheld/portable open source Wi-Fi Radio
( http://torianwireless.com/index.shtml ) is *in stock* at J&R Audio/Video in New York as of this week. I've had two on order since November. It's an Australian radio and so far, reviews have been decent. Award-winner at the CES two-years running.

I'm jazzed about this radio, as it is open to any open wi-fi connection, has lots of cool features and can be programmed to receive any streaming station (though I would be surprised if it picks up the Streamtheworld encoded CBS stations) on the Internet. (I would be very pleasantly surprised if it does.)

This isn't like the SanDisk "Connect" which is an MP3 player that picks up only Internet Radio from Yahoo! Music.

I can't wait to get my hands on the InFusion...IF there is an Internet Radio stream to listen to after May 15th...

+1 to the torian wireless unit. we broadcast via torian and are more than pleased with the quality in both the unit itself and the quality of the streams it broadcasts.
