i just moved here and the beat sux. i am hispanic and i hate hearing all that spanish bologne where they have spanish accent songs talkin BOUT' lawnmore man on a HIP-HOP station. i just wanna hear somthing like the RICKY SMILEY morning show on 97.9 the beat in DALLAS or the GOOD music 97.9 the box plays in houston. or the STEVE harvey show in the morning. NOT XAVIER or FATTY biggie paul or ROMEO or HAMBURGER they need to keep valencia shes good. but bring in TAYE TAYE or DJ BULL to power 106 not being racist against my own hispanics but for pete SAKES POWER 106 please put some black FOLKS in the BOOTH with knowledge of HIP HOP. it doesnt have anything to do with race but then again it does. they just sound better on that type of station trust me. The rest of the other hispanics in town can get used to how real hip hop is supposed to sound like they do in DALLAS and HOUSTON and AUSTIN by african americans. its okay they will still let us call up but just let them run the air. You'll be surprised how many more artists will come through with a new sound to the station.

That's funny....Two years from now The Beat will still be at top. The Beat relates to the demos here in S.A.,that's why they'll continue to dominate the ratings.
 
well i am hispanic if you dont believe me ill send you my email address and you can look me up or whatever....and sorry im not into the whole hispanic heritage thing i grew up nowhere near a border, i dont know know spanish although my parents do and you know what i should try to learn spanish...its a beautiful language and the heritage i reflect on is very powerful and taking over this country believe it or not just go up north where i was living....point being is im just not used to a hip hop station with no african americans having a say so. i lived in houston, dallas, phoenix, and thier stations reflect it. so do AUSTINS and i was in el paso for a wedding and they have a new station out there that reflects it. it just sounds better for that type of music. i listen to alot of ROCK and COUNTRY and they sound GREAT HERE. I THINK the BEAT needs to STAY here they have thier own original sound but bring in another rap station why not have 2? one for that crowd and one for my crowd????? i dont get it such a big city but many people here seem to be backwards when it comes to big city living. im not trying to get on here and act like i know my music industry cuz i dont. i just know what i like and what majority of someone from a big city like and alot would say what i just said about HIP HOP and its identity. SA is cool and i enjoy living here but why not have 2 rap stations and dont worry about the beef. WE NEED ANOTHER ROCK STATION TOO!!!! one that plays more PUNK and INDIE

p.S I take it back keep the BEAT...i like thier sunday night texas beats ...... but bring in a NEW SOUND that this CITY DOESN'T have why not AREN'T we a big city. I MEAN WE CAN SUPPORT THEM BOTH just do some tweaking BEAT

well...20, even 10 years ago, we weren't such a big city. Notice how everything, especially around 1604, is brand new. So everyone here, including the natives, are still backwards when it comes to living in a BIG city like san antonio. Yes, we're big, bigger than austin, corpus, laredo. Not as big as Houston or Dallas, but we have FULL POTENTIAL to be up there with the big dogs. With that in mind, POWER could bring that big city hip hop sound you hear from the box in houston. People here just need to get used to the fact that we are a big city and need to start living like a big city person.
 
RIGHT ON BROTHER....couldn't be said better. i live off 1604 area where all the developement is ....cant wait till the far s.side turns modern when that happens im gonna buy a new house off the 1604 and 281 area on the southside in like 15 years god willing. hopefully that part of town will start getting infrastructure and all that good stuff...im telling you, you wont want to live on the northside in 10 years the roads suck and its growing to fast. far south side boxing in the bad parts with new beautiful developement and business will be where its at. anyhow back to music.....i hope to GOD that power 106 is like one of those stations from the big two dallas or houston. im not gonna dog on the beat because what they have going for them is good but we need a new sound and its time for it. ALSO NATIVE SAN ANTONIAN'S stop BEING BACKWARDS.....luckily im moving alot of folks from california and dallas here so were gonna help change the backwards times LOL.!!!! aLso WE NEED a TEXAS COUNTRY STATION AND AN ALTERNATIVE STATION with a BANGIN POWER 106 and SA WILL BE TIIIIGHTT :p
 
...other than that i really like san antonio alot...i see alot of potential in this town, but its the people who have grown up here that bring this town down i have noticed. they are all soo negative when it comes to building new things. i mean our downtown is 2 modern glass skyscrappers from being just as good as anyone. when it comes to pro sports its the local whiners and cheapies that dont want to shell out taxes for new things like stadiums and toll roads...WHATS UP WITH THAT. STOP ACTING POOR. I mean its okey to be poor but dont bring everyone down with you !!!!! i believe we can get an NFL football team we have the right leaders. im telling you its all the old time locals who have never set foot outside san antonio that bring us down. not just the old timers but the young ones as well. GO SAN ANTONIO GO...we are going to have good radio stations and we are going to have another pro franchise, we just have to keep doing what city leaders have been doing. DONT LET LONG TIME LOCALS CONTROL THE RADIO OR CITY GOVERNMENT AND SA WILL IMPROVE. LOOK AT CITY GOVERNMENT THE BROUGHT IN SHERYL SCHULLY as city manager AND HARDBERGER as mayor and got rid of horrible ED garza and his scam artist jail time council and many things in this city have improved Dramatically including image outside SA.....HEY RADIO STATIONS IN TOWN you should follow SA city GOvT. FORMAT and we might have more sucess i promise on my loyalty to GOD!!!!!
