New programming ideas for My Network TV

So I understand that Fox cancelled 'Terra Nova' and Netflix passed on it. Here's an idea: Why not have My Network TV air the show? Maybe it'll become a better "syndicated" show than while on Fox.

Also, I would like to see 'Allen Gregory' back on the air. That show never really had a chance, either, and I, for one, thought it was kinda funny to see the title character try and go by a first name basis with everyone and be so bossy.

I also heard the news about a Spanish-language show being remade in the U.S. and produced by Fox Television Studios. 'The Queen Of The South', I believe it is. It would make perfect sense to have My Network TV air the English version.

I also understand that NewsCorp co-owns the Big Ten Network. MyNet could work some sort of sports deal with them and bring Big 10 Sports back to broadcast TV (Go, Hawks!)

Well, that's all the idea(s) I have for now...

"Terra Nova"'s small audience doesn't justify the costs involved in producing it.

Are you kidding? That show was awful! "Bob's Burgers" is awful, too, but I think it's (slightly) better than "Allen Gregory."

It would probably be a good idea to bring some kind of sports programming to MyNetwork TV, but the Big Ten Network wants to rake in carriage fees, and I don't see them watering down their own programming so they can give it away to MyNet affiliates.

MyNetwork TV should just go away. Most of the local MyNet affiliates could program themselves better as independents. Not to be outdone, The CW is pretty much a joke, too.

Well, MyNet does have some sports experience with 'IFL Battleground' and 'NFL Total Access'...Why not bring the latter back as well as 'UFC Wired'?

Here's another idea: You know how certain shows air on cable and then later on broadcast TV? Here's what I mean:

- 'The Outer Limits' and the 'Stargate' series aired first on cable with syndicated repeats to follow only within six months later.

- When 'Veronica Mars' aired on UPN, a special presentation aired during the summer on CBS, making The CW the third broadcast network to air the show.

- When 'Criminal Intent' moved to USA in 2007, the USA seasons aired on NBC later within the same TV season.

I remember when 'Damages' first aired on FX, special presentations aired briefly on My Network TV. So the idea is to have a rebroadcast agreement with either Fox and/or their related cable stations. Like, repeating the current season of FX's 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia' or 'The Simpsons'...

I agree with SteveRichards. I think NewsCorp and most of the affiliates would be better off if MyNetwork folded.

IMHO, Terra Nova (and also the late great TNT show Memphis Beat) would have been revived for first-run syndication. It worked for Too Close for Comfort, It's a Living, Silver Spoons, Mama's Family, Webster, Sirens, Forever Knight, Due South, and Punky Brewster in the past. But this practice is less common these days.

Good points. Mama's Family did very well in syndication.

I know that some sitcoms will be launching next season, but other than that, are there any scripted shows currently being produced for first-run syndication?

Those shows alsocoss peanuts compared to Terra Nova. There's absolutely no way it would work as a syndie.

Terra Nova cost a bundle to produce. FOX owns MyTV...

Personally, I wish that 'Smackdown' hadn't moved to My Network TV in the first place. I know there are some people who agree with me on this. The SyFy contract is supposed to last for at least two years and maybe a possible third. That means MyNet could get the show back as early as later this year!

Also, there's another show we lost to cable-- 'America's Most Wanted'. I also believed this show would be better off on My Network TV or syndicated and I still do. Instead, it's on Lifetime, a cable network. However, 20th Century Fox is still the copyright holder of the show, so maybe Lifetime and MyNet could come up with an agreement regarding 'AMW'...

It has become my understanding that 'Afterburn' and 'The Bottom Line' are both still in production and seen overseas. My Network TV should strike a deal with the WWE and bring these two programs back to U.S. airwaves where they belong!

I agree with both of these posts. AMW would fit in well with My Network TV at their old time slot 9pm et/pt saturdays.

Here are some more ideas:

1. 'Dr. Drew's Lifechangers' is expected to leave The CW Daytime in September 2012.
Hopefully, the show will continue in first-run syndication, and maybe there could be hour-long
specials on My Network TV (like a two-parter airing back-to-back on The CW)

2. Bring back some of the former programs that aired before

3. Air special presentations of Fox's top hit programming

4. Make a deal with Lifetime in regard to 'America's Most Wanted'-- after all, TCF does still own
the copyrights to the show

4. According to wikipedia.org, there was some proposed programming back in 2006, but
nothing ever became of these shows. They were:
A. 'Catwalk' (similar to 'America's Next Top Model')
B. 'On Scene', produced by Fox News (I think this is similar to 'Celebrity Justice')
C. 'America's Brainiest' (based on a British game show)
D. 'Love Island' (the U.S. version of a British celebrity 'Bachelor/Bachelorette')
I can see B as a possible weekday show with an hour-long version in primetime (like 'Extra' or
'TMZ'). Also, C sounds like a very plausible show...
