They have an endless loop of someone snooring/sleeping on now.
Word from the station is that it will be off tomorrow.

Oh wow, I thought you were referring to the yesterday/today trainwreck.

I'm picking up something around 99.9 that's dead air, but I can't tell if it's just some kind of interference or the actual station (it's an analog tuner).

I thought 99.9's ratings were good back when they were 60s/70s/80s... odd that NM would have killed the station.
______________

Keep me posted here on 99.9 Stanley "B" and I worked together at
WGNI back in the good old days when it was on 1340 am and 103 was

UPDATE

I just got off the phone with my father who lives in Wilmington, he turned on 99.9 and got "its your thing" by The Isley Brothers. Maybe this was all just an early april fools joke and they are back to "Yesterday and Today" I cannot verify this as I was not able to get a station ID. The previous poster said he got dead air on 99.9 but now they are back to music. Does anyone know if the B is back or are they just stunting with something before an all out format flip occurs? it may also interest you to know that the B's website www.b999fm.com is under construction. Yesterday the website had a splash graphic with the "Yesterday and Today" logo, checked the site today and the logo is gone. Any posts on here reguarding 99.9 as it appears now would be appreciated :) Keep us up to date on this strange story.

Thanks

Sounds pretty much like the old 'Jammin'99.9 to me, mostly
oldies that kick it up a little.

JohnA

B99.9 has gone back to Jammin' 99.9......They are running sweepers that say the community "asked for the old format back."

Real Story: The GM (who used to be the Sales Manager before NextMedia bought the station) realized she was making more money when the station was Jammin', so she decided to change back. Original concept was from the old OM, John Stevens.

> Real Story:

Actually the "real story" is that NextMedia did a comprehensive research study on their whole cluster, which revealed that B99.9 had no meaningful position in the market and that there was a huge demand for the Rhythmic Oldies format the station abandoned three years ago.

GM's need to stick to sales and let the programmers program. If a GM wants to program, then get a PD gig and feel the heat like everyone else. Otherwise, shut the piehole and go sell something.
______________

Is the station again called "Jammin' 99.9" or did they keep the "B" name and just change the music?
______________

It has returned to the Jammin' 99.9 name, positioning and packaging.

Wow. Thanks for the brilliant insight AllKnowing. MY real story is that I heard Bea Raybourne remark from her lovely new office on Kerr Avenue that she (and I must paraphrase as this was several months ago, before the research study, and I can't remember the exact words), wondered why B wasn't selling like it should and she never had problems selling the station during the "Jammin'" format. Hmmmm, are you in the building too? Or are you one of those genius NextMedia programming drones? Yep, you're really takin' away the market from those Cumulus folks. HA!
