New Q99-7 Morning Show

Finally, Q99-7 is set to debut a replacement for the wildly successful Bert Show. The Q Morning Crew (not the most original name) will kick off on Monday after several weeks of test runs.

The show consists of Joe Breezy, 46, DK Kramer, early 40’s, and Cort Freeman, 35. All have extensive major market radio experience.

Cumulus Chief Media Content Officer Brian Philips is known for his creativity and good judgment so we’ll see how this goes.

Rodney Ho wrote a story with all the details in the AJC.

Phillips had really nothing to do with it. This is all Program Director Patrick Davis' vision for the station and show... Davis was hired specifically to rebuild Q for the post-Bert era.

Interesting that this was a national talent search, bringing in people from three different cities, and no real Atlanta connections. Of course the same could be said of Bert, who was born in NYC, came to Atlanta from DC, and previously worked in Dallas.

It's 2026. Can we please get rid of cheesy on-air pseudonyms?

"Joe Breezy" ?

🤮

That said, I wish the new morning show much success. Kudos to Cumulus for not going the el cheapo route.

My thoughts exactly
Of course he oversees all hirings and approves. But good leaders delegate and that's the deal here. Davis built the team he wanted and was given the go-ahead... Phillips has been leading the culture change at Cumulus Atlanta over the past several years starting first with 101.5, then the relaunch of 99X, and now at Q. And that includes letting programmers have the resources and talent needed to succeed.

I totally agree with that, and it’s the way all businesses should be run. It’s also a lot different from he “really had nothing to do with it.”

It’s worse. He’s married to a TV meteorologist. When they got married, she changed her TV last name to Breezy.

Just my opinion...I think the Q Morning Crew sound great. There obviously is a lot of talent in the room, and they mesh well together. On the other hand, they sound very much like a lot of other morning shows, whereas Bert had a uniqueness in terms of how he sounded and expressed himself. (Don't know if that really matters.)

With Q99-7 and New Country 101-5, Cumulus/Atlanta has some of the country's most talented morning people.
