New QC ratings out

So WLLR is up above a 20 now...and apparently Kiss FM is still doing very well. The numbers for B100 went down, but as a whole the market share for CHR has increased.

One has to wonder, how much longer can Cumulus keep Star 93.5 around with a 2.1 ratings? Sure it's going up finally, but not by much.

Almost have to wonder if moving 93.5 to a country format could work, even if it shaves a bit off WLLR it would be higher ratings than where they are now. I know its not going to be easy to get advertisers for the second country station, but having a jukebox with a live personality in the morning can't be too much. I do see where Mix 96 seems to be erroding when not in holiday time. They have been going down, yet they seem strong when you go out and about you here Mix 96.1 on the radios.

Dumping Hot AC would send the majority of those listeners either over to B100 or Kiss FM.
Maybe B100 becomes a CHR/Rhythmic? It would cut into Kiss I'm sure.

Thoughts?

B100 & Star are both way better than KISS & Mix in my opinion, but that's just solely based on my taste in music & what I look for in a station. B100's imaging is top notch and they are mixing in a ton of golds compared to KISS, which I can't stand to listen to. I can't stand their female Voiceover and they are way to heavy on recurrents from the last year or two. This is how B100 used to on music, now they have picked up their game, new imaging and a new approach to the music. As for Star, basically I think it's better than Mix because I'm a bigger fan of the 2000's pop they play. Mix plays a ton more 70s & 80s which I'm not into really. With a low rating, I think a flip to Country wouldn't do to much since WLLR has been on top for awhile. I really have no idea what to do with Star, maybe get a new morning show in? I'd kick out John Tesch also...I just don't see the fit, everytime I hear that John Tesch bumper music...I flip to a new station.

Even though I'm big on CHR & Hot AC, I am also really into country...I love WLLR, love the mix of country they have. Although have never been a fan of Lueck & Howe on in the morning and then back at night from 6-Midnight. I think a local night show would be great, or they could even consider bringing in Whitney Allen nationally at nights...since they do run her on Saturday. I said I think a flip at 93.5 to country wouldn't work...I would be interested to see it because I am a country music fan. It might be an alternative on the weekend, I hate the fact that WLLR's weekends are filled with countdowns, but all around I like WLLR.

How's Rock 104-9 doing? I do love some of the rock they play, Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Nirvana...and some of the classic rock.

How did the new "Vintage Sound 93.1" do?

Prairie does not subscribe to Arbitron numbers, plus they wouldn't show in this book anyways. DUH!

If Cumulus flipped something to country, it would be to shave a couple of shares off WLLR, not try to be a real competitor. They might be reluctant to do that since it would most likely be their new "Nash" country format and they might not want to risk their new national brand on what would be almost guaranteed to have poor ratings.

Is it likely Cumulus might decide to put CBS Sports on 1170, since the oldies format is doing nothing? Or do they remember the station still exists?

WLLR is seemingly indestructible. I don't think Cumulus can make a dent in them.
and the Titanic could NOT sink either... no station is indestructible, how many remember KIIK and spike at the mike?

If 1170 went to sports, they would be repeating a sports format again from when they were KJOC. I don't know, it would be nice to have another sports option in the market. Be nice if there was some more local sports in the market.

What about some formats we don't have here, like an Urban AC, an Urban, or a rythmic CHR? Any chance of those formats coming here?

Someone was saying that Clear Channel might exit this market with a sell-off. What would that look like? Would Cumulus get ahold of WLLR possibly? That would potentially change the station forever. I'm sure it will cost a pretty penny to get ahold of that one.

I don't trust those numbers for KJOC. They are getting listeners. Wouldn't be bad to give it a try on FM.

A couple years back, WGVV-LP pulled of a 3 share or so, possibly bigger. That was despite it's signal limitations. It probably wouldn't be viable commercially however.

And Cumulus would only be able to acquire one station, and I doubt it would be WLLR. You could see another group like Townsquare make an offer for some of the CCM stations (KMXG, KUUL, KCQQ)
