New Radio Format Idea - Remix Radio

In my Quad Content post earlier, I posted link about Dolby Labs assisting remixing
"thousands of popular songs" in a form of Surround Sound.

My new format idea is to use these remixes with a tag line such as:
"REMIX RADIO! Your favorite songs sounding new again!"

Great...let us know when you buy a station and launch the format.

But it's my experience that most people prefer the original versions.

Reminds me of something like Turner's attempt to 'colorize' classic movies, running them on a separate cable channel. I think re-produced music into some form of surround, would be even less interesting to most radio listeners.

It is amazing the little things we commit to memory. If you have ever had the bad luck of buying a CD of classic hits only to find it is not the original mix, you realize what great detail the mind recalls. There is a great deal of truth to the advertising reality that comfortable and familiar works but anything that is not is somehow inferior or lesser quality..
