New Ratings are Out for the Fall Book

Per All Access
DVE stayed at #1
KDKA at #2 by a slight edge
WDSY comes in 3rd
WSHH in 4th place
Bob is in 5th.

I can't believe the fall of star 100.7. K ROCK is just completely dead. CBS Radio for the most part on the FM dial is not doing well at all in the ratings.

Isn't it amazing how All Access is faster at releasing this information, than R&R since their merger. Its a shell of its former self.

With the addition of the 90 to 6 style of news block back on KD, and a new PD, it will be interesting to see if KDKA can come back and claim its one time king status.

Good comment about CBS and their FM stations. Is their even ONE good music PD in the CBS chain?

Perhaps the rise in the Soft Rock stations (92.9 and 99.7) and 3WS can be attributed to the fact that they were playing Christmas Music during the last ratings period. On the other hand, Star 100.7 was playing the usual repetitive junk they've been playing for years.

I'm not surprised at their sudden decline. A format flip is well overdue on the Fallen Star. Since the Rhythmic Dance/HotAC format obviously isn't coming to 93.7, then perhaps they should consider this change at 100.7. Anything, please!

I always went to the Radio and Records site for ratings- and it appears they are five days behind over there.

Could you tell us where to find the ratings on All Access? Or do you need an account?

And is the account free?

R&R finally updates Pittsburgh. WSHH wins, but 3WS and WLTJ were both up as well. Following the downward spiral of KD, is Star and 93.7. Bob continues to climb slowly.

Christmas is over, lets see where things now go.

Why do so many people seem to think that only a radical format change can help a struggling station? There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the format on Star. Their playlist could use some changes, like loosening it up a little bit (not a lot, just a little) and a little bit more attention to what they include and what they exclude from their playlist. Combine a little well-done adjusting with some decent promotion, and they're back on track again.

You're kidding about all this stuff, right? Lets see, the ratings are for the fall book, the Christmas music started in November and lasted until the end of December...no the ratings for Christmas music couldn't have made the fall book.

As for your comment on Bob-FM....climb slowly??? The station exactly a year ago in the Fall 2005 book was 2.8 and Fall 2006 is a 5.6 (top 5 in the Pittsburgh market)...thats a slow climb? I'm not in the radio business at all, but I can say with fair confidence that any PD or station owner is celebrating at those numbers right now.

The survey period was Sept. 21 through Dec. 13, so it would have covered several weeks of the all-Christmas formats. In the case of 3WS, it was about a month.

Thanks Boss Radio! Last book to this book, Bob climbed slowly. Bob is however a huge success story!

My apologies. There could be a small spike I guess, but the next book will be the one to see if the Christmas music caused another spike.

I am not a regular Bob-FM listener, but must give kudo's where they're due. Its ratings went through the roof in a year. It will be interesting to see if it has peaked and will start its decline like the other Jack stations seem to do after a year or two.

I agree that Star needs a format change...they are horrible. Even the "whatever you want" weekends and the 80s Fridays are a joke - it's the same stuff over and over.

it's the same stuff over and over.

So, does that mean a total change to a whole new category of music, or just switching to different songs within the same format they currently play? Is it the genre of music they play, or is it just the selection within the genre?

Put JACK on 100.7 if for no other reason than to steal some of Bob's thunder. They should have been smart enough to do that to one of their FM's the minute Howard left.

The 80's and 90's and current middle of the road crap that is prevalent there...yeah...I think they need to switch to a whole new category. You can't put a dress on this pig. I mean who wants to hear Hootie and the Blowfish "deep cuts"?

Actually, I would. I used to listen to their CD, and liked everything on it. I realize that's just me.

And, it doesn't have to be "deep" cuts. If the Top 4o over the span of 10 years added 10 new songs every week, that's 520 songs a week. Over ten years, that's 5,200 songs that were on the CHR charts in the 80's. Surely out of 5,280 hit songs they could find a few more to play today than the handful they're currently playing to death, without having to resort to "deep" cuts that didn't make the Top 40.

This is what I've been saying for YEARS, but I've given up on the station. They not only play the same ARTISTS (Melloncamp, Bon Jovi, and Aerosmith), but the same select few songs by those artists over and over and over...

I agree with the poster that said the 80s Flashback is AWFUL. Are they still playing "I Touch Myself" by the Divinyls (1990) every Friday? ::) I never felt that they lived up to their slogan "Pittsburgh Biggest and Best Variety".

You've just described the perfect way to be successful for a year or two, and then to fall into oblivion.

I live in Philly And Listen To Kidd Chris on WYSP

He talks about being on In PIttsburg alot on the show

How did he end up doing i know he does well here
