New Ratings

Wow, the new ratings have come out, and not a peep from this board or a thought!
Very interesting... Never thought I would see WEAS #4
WLVH beat WEAS
WQBT beat WEAS
Country is now the new #1 station

Usually, we hear so many comments about the ratings, which has happened for years! Now, you can hear a church mouse.

Whats going on here?

we will just wait until the economy improves. when things start happening again. with all this automation what is there to talk about.

Is there anyone left at Clear Channel Savannah? Look at the Jock list for KISS and it's mostly all people from somewhere else. Bill Edwards, Mark Robertson, John Wetherbee....is that it?! BMQ...who does mornings there? Ray Steele?

How about posting the published 18+ numbers....or some comments on the other formats:

106 vs. 95
97 vs. 102
98.7 vs. 107.9
96.5 vs. 106.9

If someone would bother to post some 25-54 rankings it might start some chit-chat!

Ray Steele has been gone from WBMQ for months (a Cume-Less casualty). He's now at AM1400, and sounding good.

The reason a lot of the boards are boring is that radio is boring! Lots of folks are gone. Most of the facilities are run by a skeleton crew. Not a lot to talk about when you get down to it! Sorry, that's just the way it is!

I moved across the country and have been very busy. Heck, I totally forgot about the Arbs! I too would like to see this place more vibrant and alive than it has been recently. Then again, when the radio market's been snoresville, it's understandable.

Now onto the Arbs...

WOW...it seems like Savannah has sampled Mix 102-1 and not become fans. So what now for WZAT? I'd say go back to the drawing board but theirs was decimated eons ago.

WFXH moves up again. Mouthbreathers like their music, I suppose. The station is aural poison but I guess that's what Savannah "rock" fans consider music. Whatever.

Nipping at WFXH's heels is Deep-Fried Radio, otherwise known as WIXV.

92-3 - The Point rises a bit (WSGA). But it'll never be a contender.

WRHQ - Nothing more needs to be said. Jerry keeps the lights on and keeps on keeping on. All is well over there at the bungalow.

I said it before and I'll say it again - the country fans in Savannah spoken, and KIX 96 is their station of choice. I think WGZR has gone as far as it can.

WLOW dropped quite a bit. I still don't know why it hasn't changed formats. I know Triad's going after WYKZ but WGCO's playing virtually the same songs as WLOW. Can you say cannibalizing?

And the residents of The Landings make their voices heard, as WSEG-AM (Star 1400), makes its debut in the Arbs.

Did I miss anything?

See... What did I say? 94.1 The Beat Added a Rhythmic PD Changed their mix shows and added Rhythmic Tracks in it and look at it, almost #1. kudos to Chase! But, Is it worth it at the expanse of WAEV? I think so, Move WAEV more toward Hot AC and it will grab the listeners from Mix 102. Probably will help when PPM hits Savannah in about 5-10 years.

Time to Move WQBT fully Rhythmic. CC did this in Boston to WJMN, They sound great too.

Well, that is one way of looking at it... Chase did a GREAT job; however... WQBT isn't leaning RHY by looking at the artist and song titles... Could the reason be that this is first time PD LIL G's second book, and WEAS is just on the decline?
WAEV is without a PD
WLVH beat WEAS as well, which hasnt happened in 10 years!
I have to believe that WEAS is not improving

I gave up on listening to both about two months ago. They will duke it out until I'm gray and old...and I’ll seek out those faint signals from Charleston on my radio.

The big winner at the former TAMA cluster is WSSJ. That's a no-brainer, though. I'm suprised WSOK is still doing well!

Savannah is one of those two-country music station towns. Plus, 106.9 is much more popular over the river in HHI…and that’s a lot of Adventure’s bread-and-butter. Ditto with 98.3/107.9. In the Lowcountry, Adventure radio is probably the most dominant due to their presence as the only cluster on HHI and the signals pretty much all originating from Bluffton. Same signals, different markets.

As far as the playlist. It now seems that sunday and overnight Cannot be changed, since WQBT uses Premium Choice Programming in those time slots
The Mix shows, However, are Rhythmic Shows. I think they are brought in from WIBT and the Really Top 40 pop songs are cut from the mix. But you hear Pitbull , Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas etc. The mix shows songs do not show up in the playlist. Regardless big improvement.

Doesn't the entire market subscribe to/focus on Nielsen now? Different period. Will they publish 12+?

Also the 94/93 war just shows what happens when you lose your heritage morning show.

I think it shows what happens when you have upper management that doesn’t get the format; and, they proceed to dismantle everything that made the station dominant in ratings and revenue for the past 10 plus years!
