New Receiver/Translator for IBOC

Hi:

Please excuse this intrusion but, if you are attending the NAB and are in the throes of developing a strategy for equipping FM translators for IBOC, you will want to check out the new Fanfare receiver/translator called the "FP-TRO". It provides complete, in-the-box conversion of baseband and carrier with output ready for any linearized PA. LIke the FT1AP, this unit does particularly well under low signal conditions. And, with no demod/remod, there are no licensing fees. For more information, go to;

See a demo at the NAB - "Crown Broadcast" booth 3912.
Again, my apologies for the intrusion. Thank you for your time.

I don't view that as an intrusion. As the Designated Engineer for a couple of translators, I think it is interesting news. Besides, Marv makes some very nice radios.

There are also supposed to be a couple of "all in one" IBOC translators shown at NAB. If HD succeeds to become the replacement for analog, then it is going to be very interesting upgrading translators to handle the requirement. I still question if a maximum 2.5 watts of digital signal will be adequate to do any good.

I guess we'll find out.
