New remote SDR in coastal Maine

I was surprised to get 990 CBW from Winnipeg on this SDR. Figured I'd get WDCX Rochester NY.

Last night I heard a very strong CBC station on 540. Never got an ID other than CBC 1. I'm sure it wasn't CBK, the signal was too strong and fairly steady.
Anyone know what that would be in NE Maine?

Per MWList, it must be CBT in Grand Falls Newfoundland, about 600 miles northeast of Lubec.

Agree. That will be some interesting DX, especially considering their early sunsets out that way. Guessing the sun goes down in Lubec before 4 in December.
I haven't DXed Europe much and don't even know what to look for. Listening to this SDR will be something new and interesting.

December 22 sunset in Lupec ME is 3:50pm. (I'll take "places to never own a daytime AM station for $100, Alex). Lupec was already offline this afternoon but there's one in nearby Rockport, ME that didn't seem all that noisy and had regular catches labled.

I heard Cuba on the Lubec receiver clearly on 670 last night.

That echoes my experience on the Rockport SDR, which has great reception. I don't know if I've ever heard the Chicago 50Ks on that one, and if I have they've been very weak. New York and Boston AMs blast there, not surprisingly.
The map on the SDR's home page currently doesn't indicate any receiver in Lubec as of 11:30 Sunday morning, but it's still there if you follow the direct link in this thread.

I heard WBBM weak, otherwise no Chicago blowtorches. As you mention NYC & Boston were strong.

WLW was conspicouously missing on both Lupek and Rockport. Also no Chicago clears, but a weak signal from KMOX. Even CFZM was weak and being interfered with.

I just gave this SDR a short mid-day "test drive". Nice. The Boston big signals were in...presumably via saltwater path. WBZ in particular was booming in. I think I also was hearing Providence on 630 and perhaps NYC with weak signals on 660 and 880.

Hopefully this rig will be up and running for at least a couple of more days so I can check it out in more detail.

Not being a big European DXer, what signals are best to look for that far east, especially when the days get shorter later in the year?

Just off the top of my head, I'm thinking Sportstalk 1089 from London might be a good pace to start, if you can null WBAL. If the BBC still has their blowtorch going on 693, that night also be a possibility. 810 from Scotland if you can get out from under WGY? Others here probably have better suggestions.

I read elsewhere that this SDR is being shut down for the summer :(

When it's back on, you should be able to hear lots of signals from Spain, plus 1089/1215 from the UK. Several high-powered North Africans should be doable as well. I understand there are lots of possibilities from Brazil/Argentina as well.
