New Reporter/Anchor coming to CBS46 in August.

From AL.com-

Mike Moore didn't expect to stay here this long.

But in August, after nearly 10 years at Birmingham's NBC 13, Moore will leave the city and the station to join CBS 46 in Atlanta.

"I thought it was time to move along," Moore says. "My agent worked on something for about six months, and one of the few places I would want to move became available.

"I have been a journalist for 20 years," he adds. "Ten of those years have been spent right here."

A New York City native, Moore worked at the former ABC affiliate in Phoenix before he came to NBC 13 to become the weeknight anchor in October 1995. For the past two years, Moore has anchored the station's weekend newscasts. He also will anchor weekends in Atlanta.

"Atlanta is such a competitive market it doesn't matter what you do over there," he says. "Weekends are going to be really competitive."

At CBS 46, Moore will join former Birmingham broadcaster Gil Tyree, who worked at WBRC/Channel 6 as a sportscaster in the mid-80s. Tyree is the weekday sports anchor at CBS 46.

Moore's last day at NBC 13 will be Aug. 3, and he starts at CBS 46 on Aug. 15. He's moving from the 40th largest TV market in the country to the ninth largest. CBS 46 is the third highest-rated station in Atlanta, Moore says.

In the past year, NBC 13 has lost longtime anchorwoman Malena Cunningham, who left the station in September, and president and general manager David Doebler, who moved to a larger market in Hartford, Conn., in March. Ratings for the station's 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts have also dropped over the last year.

Moore says none of those was a factor in his decision to leave. "It's Atlanta," he says.

~Hmmm... okay.. That's cool and all, but the statement "He also will anchor weekends in Atlanta. " bothers me.... Please dont tell me Lori Wilson is leaving us...He's just joining her.. right?
