New Reporter at WLNE

WLNE has really stepped up their game. Looks like the new owners have actually breathed new life into that station. Things are looking up!

WLNE did an excellent job - and according to the station, they will expand their nightly newcast very soon. It looks like Channels 10 and 12 will have some stronger competition from channel 6. For those on this board who have ridiculed channel 6's newscasts and their ratings in the past, you may be surprized at what's coming soon.

WLNE owned this story. They definitely brought their "A" game. Viewing habits are tough to change in this market, but if tonight is a signal of things to come then 10 and 12 better be ready for some competition.

Isn't Allison going to be the new weekday evening anchor? Good to see that WLNE is competing once again. Reminds me of the early 80's when WLNE had a superior weather computer -- when 10 and 12 only had the National Weather Service info. Anyone remember Brad Field, Steve Cascione, and the Weathermation forecast system? :D

Brad Field? Indeed I do. He's the Chief Meteorologist at WVIT-TV(NBC) channel 30 here in New Britain/Hartford and has been at channel 30 since at least the mid-1980s.

I wish WLNE-TV luck. They can't be #3 forever...can they?

Brad Field was at WLNE in the early 80's along with Steve Cascione (now weekend am met at WPRI) and the Weathermation weather computer system!

There were rumors about John leaving, but I don't know how accurate they were? They also never replaced Dylan and Jeff Latham may not want to keep doing weekends.

That could, in part be due to the fact that they are right downtown, walking distance to the Orms street over pass over 95, plus right near one of the many gridlocked intersections in the city during the storm.

I've been watching Channel 6 more and more. I needed a change of pace from channel 10. Channel 12 is just way to flashy for the sake of being flashy.
