New Rhythmic Station

Could Columbia and Charleston support a Rhythmic station? Being that both markets have a strong Urban and Pop station, a station playing Hip-Hop and upbeat Hits IMO could work. I remember Clear Channel tried in Chucktown with 94.3 THE BEAT which was decent with a "party station" sound.

In Columbia, the question is why? You'll always be #2 or even worse to the WWDM/WHXT combo we know that from when WXBT was Rhythmic/Urban. There is really no business case to be made for another station targeting the Urban/Rhythmic audience.

I would love to see this format in Charleston, but who would do it? Everything urban in the past didn't last more than 2 years.

I hope B93.7 here in the Upstate moves their HD2 "Rhythmic AC - Funkytown" format to somewhere else on the dial, such as 93.3.
Great mix of music, past and present, with even some new and classic dance music thrown in.... ;)

There's a reason dance/rythmic isn't on the air now. It doesn't sell.

But,. but, but...look at Orlando & cities out west. They're not in SC.

Still, WXBT has to vulnerable on the market's north end.

WXBT no longer exists on FM. The calls transferred to the AM 560 facility and the WVOC calls and format went to the former WXBT 100.1.

Wasn't WXBT-100.1 The BEAT an Urban station, not Rhythmic?
