New River Morning Show Starts Monday

No, it's not Zakk Tyler. Sorry, guys. But it's musician/singer Eddie Money. Live--I mean taped--from L.A.

Kaedy moves to middays. Clapper stays in afternoons. Millman stays at 92.9.

Mara vs. Kaedy, Very interesting.

Doesn't Eddie Money's voice sound like glass on a gravel road?

Question: If Money is in LA is he doing the show live at 3AM LA time? Or is he taping the day before, thereby giving us a day old show?

Fairly sure bet: Competitors won't name a contest "Money in the Morning!"

You'd think Eddie Money would be better suited for an afternoon drive show - that way, he could "take you home tonight." ::)

OK, let's start taking bets: Will it last longer than David Lee Roth's morning show (3 1/2 months)? I say no. Gone by Christmas.

Does this mean Kidd Chris on Project 9-6-1 has to stop giving away his "Free Money"..?

An old Steve Smith trick. he once put Isaac Hayes and Ashford and Simpson on drivetime at an urban station in NY. They are not there now!

Can't they hire radio people to do radio, for god's sake?

Tune in Thursday morning at 7:20 to win two tickets to paradise.

Sorry, too easy.

He may be giving away 2 tickets to paradise, but the competition is never going to give away Jerry Maguire DVD's.

While I am usually a betting man I will not take that bet.

Now if Randy & Spiff were starting Monday on 97.1, that would be a story.

edit: I'm starting a rumor, the Eddie Money syndie thing is just short-term until Randy & Spiff make their triumphant return to Fox 97 ... err 97.1 The River.

I picked up the river in Middlesboro, Kentucky yesterday clear as a bell on my car radio, That is a monster signal..............

I think it'll be tape delayed. No one in L.A. would be able to listen if he starts his show that early.

1. In fairness, the late Hayes "babysat" (as one media insider called it) the syndicated morning show that Kiss-FM/WRKS was running at the time, I believe it was Tom Joyner...

2. That reminds me: "Wake Up with Whoopi, anyone?"

Unfortunately, that would be like Cox admitting they made a mistake in firing them in the first place. Don't think that's going to happen. :-[

That would mean 'the powers that be' would have to work with someone that actually knows what they're doing. Too much of a threat...

That would be kinda NEW, wouldn't it?

This kind of stunt rarely works.

I've always been surprised by how many people think doing successful radio of any kind--let alone mornings--is easy, and that anyone can do it. It is TOUGH and HARD WORK and is all consuming, when done right. You can't phone it in.

The world is littered with ex-rock stars who've failed at this. The only one I know of who didn't really fail was Joe Walsh, but even with him, you could only get him for a week...short-term stuff...he's funny, but to sustain it month in and month out?

I wish Eddie Money well. We'll see what happens here.

Well, on one hand, that means the listeners will be getting a day old show unable to talk about anything live. On the other hand, a good portion of the River's listeners are still living in 1978.
