New RKO imagining voice, slogan

Not impressed by the new voice. It's a bit of a step-down from Dana. Speaking of voices, whenever Greg Vine comes on, I switch off my radio for a few minutes.

Same here. Sometimes RKO has used Pete Gustin (like when Whitey was captured: "stay with WRKO for breaking news and talk) who is one of the two main voices of WEEI (along with Jim
Cutler). Pete interned for/worked at RKO earlier and (because he's legally blind) got the nicknames
"Blindspot" from Howie and "Weird Blind Pete" (or something like it) from the Two Chicks

Well you will not be hearing Greg Vine doing news on Howie's show anytime soon. Carr claimed that Vine included to many Pro Obama stories in his newscast and Carr only wants Pro Romney stories during his show. Entercom brought Grand Pa Carr complaints to Metro which BTW way is now owned by Clear Channel which in part is owned by Bain Capital. Vine is off saucier is in. Carr is always fair and balanced just like Fox news.

I don't know much about Greg Vine but they poke fun at Saucier and his voice on WEEI during or before
the Whiner Line (as he's on both stations). Hadn't heard about Howie complaining about the use of Vine.
I'm just glad they'll prob use Jeff Kuhner for Howie fill ins rather than McPhee or Col Hunt

>>which in part is owned by Bain Capital.

Ooh! Eeevil Bain Capital.
http://www.*************/Big-Government/2012/07/19/Obama-bundler-Bain-Capital
>>one of Barack Obama’s top bundlers, Jonathan Lavine, managing director at Bain, who has bundled between $100,000 and $200,000 in contributions for the 2012 Obama Victory Fund, was one of the guys running Bain when GST went belly-up.

Stephanie Miller is due to be on Hannity's TV show tonight, btw. No word if MSNBC will put a conservative
talk host as a guest on one of its shows.
(radio-info.com news front page:"Speaking of Fox News Channel, guess who will be making a rare appearance as a guest of Sean Hannity on “Hannity” this evening? None other than his good buddy Stephanie Miller! Now that should be fun.")

Howie does let some liberal callers on, mainly for laughs I think
Bill from W. Hartford
Josh From Vermont (who keeps calling unenrolled Howie a Republican and instead of countering Howie's
replies to him just goes to the next item on his index card)
Steve From Montreal
(Bravo Steve. I myself have walked along Rue de la Commun in the old quarter and listened to Howie
on 620 WVMT on my Walkman)

>> included to many

I'm guessing the o key on the keyboard is sticking and that second o didn't show up

You can be sure that this is BS.

Seems like another case of '"I never would have seen it if I hadn't believed it.

Entercom brought Grand Pa Carr complaints to Metro which BTW way is now owned by Clear Channel which in part is owned by Bain Capital.

Oddly, the folks who now run Bain Cap are big Obama supporters and rain makers, so this would appear counterintutitive. YMMV.

Greg Vine's a good guy. I knew him when I worked with Ben Parker and Greg at the old WEIM, now WPKZ. Some of you need to take your heads out of your butts

The new voice sounds like what they've used on promos for AAF and is up there with Col. Hunt, McPhee, and 96.9's Joe Liguiotti. yikes

It is no BS and I am not going to argue with you but this is a fact. If there was a private message feature on this board I would give you more details.

Some of the Bain people have donated to Obama but my guess is that just as much money has been donated to Romney. It is called hedging your bets. Corporations do it all the time.

The board does have a private message feature. Click on a user's name and look for "Send this member a personal message." They'll see it show up under "My Messages" and I believe will be notified they have a message via email unless the feature is turned off somehow.

So, let me get this straight....you PUBLICALLY accuse a news operation of committing one of the greatest ethical sins in the business (breaching the Chinese wall), but can only offer proof of it PRIVATELY? Sorry, but that is a pretty good working definition of BS. For some reason, the term fourflusher also comes to mind.

Some of the Bain people have donated to Obama but my guess is that just as much money has been donated to Romney.

Ummm...this was one of your 'evidentiary coincidence' lynchpins a day ago, and now its morphed into a guess?

<<<< It is called hedging your bets.>>>>

Since you don't know the campaign contribution records of the Bain execs, how do you know they are contributing to both sides? Another guess, perchance? The records are public, and you're wrong.

<<<< Corporations do it all the time.>>>>

Really? Corporate contributions to candidates for federal office are illegal, and that isn't a 'guess' on my part. Which corporations are making these illegal contributions, or do you have to privately e-mail me on that, too?

Here's the bottom line... As they used to say in the Navy, if there’s no paperwork, it didn’t happen. Don't privately e-mail me proof of something you're publically accused others of unethically doing, because if that 'proof' is as specious as I suspect, I'll dissect it right here in public on this board. Therefore, I can't honor a self-serving confidentiality.

But, here are the salient points of my argument...

1. Although the major Bain players are BHO supporters, it's really beside the point. Folks as high up in the corporate hierarchy of Bain don't get involved in personnel decisions that far down on the food chain. Hell, they'd never heard of this guy, and probably haven't still today.

2. Clear Channel, and Metro are going to risk besmirching their reputations doing the bidding of Howie Carr and a station barely hanging into the Top 20? Sure they are. And I bet Entercom is hot to trot to do Carr favors, too.

3. It would not be in Carr's best interest to have this guy fired, so why would he lobby for it? Carr's show works best when in opposition. If he thought Vine was in the tank for Obama, he'd tee him up and use him for batting practice at every opportunity. There may be folks who intimidate Carr, but Vine isn't one of them. Plus, Carr doesn't like Romney very much, it only appears that way because he out-and-out hates Obama. The idea of Carr getting exercised over a disparity in story count between Romney and Obama is a joke.

Remember....Just because you can connect the dots doesn't mean there's a picture.

Regards,
TSB
