New Rock 101.9 - New York

..............Lasted a whole four months

http://fmqb.com/article.asp?id=2548379

What a slap in the face to new rock music fans in NYC. Something is wrong when you can hear 50 year old rock songs on the radio, but not new ones. Then they wonder why young people do not want to get involved in grandpa's industry...

The twitter feed is now gone after irate listeners started posting, and so is the Facebook page.

God forbid if the old timers lost CBS FM!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly..can't wait for the day (soon)..when the demographics for that will just be too old and they'll have to flip it.

Ouch. If I were a NYC alternative fan I'd be pounding the walls in disgust/frustration...
Just what we need, another sports station *smh*

And remember how spoken word was last time they tried it oh yea it failed both for CBS and for Merlin. CBS killed KRock and Merlin killed New Rock and Rock for NYC 2xs however RXP originally was garbage so I didn't mind it was gone that much because it wasn't executed well. This RXP 2.0 is 100% better. of course they'd switch formats now. 102.7 should be sold to cumulus so they can bring back to where it belongs!

i cant believe that they want to switch alternative off the air on FM in the biggest city in the nation, they should leave 101.9 alone. thats one reason i dont listen to FM anymore because of the big companies don't know what best for the metro areas.

The station is online only now.. Still a bummer. New York needs a modern rock station.

Same thing here in Arizona. We only have one or two stations that have modern rock in their playlist(s).

I've been trying to figure out what exactly the purpose/intent of keeping the newrock1019 stream going in it's current form is. It seems to be managed by Radio IO, who Michaels had sold some IP to a few years back. The playlist is being updated, and a Facebook page is still being maintained, howvver between tracks the liners are still from right when the station came back "new rock is back on 1019 tell someone," etc. it doesn't seem to be benefiting anyone to have the stream here. Also what happens when/if Cumulous does flip wfas--as the marketing for the stream still uses the RXP calls.
