New Rock "Alternative" In Lubbock?

Any alternative station hit the hub yet...probably not, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Seems FMX is doing pretty well with absolutely NO competition, I mean rock 101 is there but are they REALLY!?...How's about an alternative rock station with a little bit of cajunas to give FMX at least a little bit of a challenge, I'm not saying that it would be a #1 in the market station but I really believe it could do well and be a pretty good sell for advertisers too. Enough with the latin stations in the christian stations...5 each is enough dontcha think?? Just a thought, haven't been in the hub for about a year so let me know what's up fellow radio "experts"...and happy holidays!!!

although im no expert, I don't see any change coming soon. You are right. FMX doesn't have any competition. FMX is the only station that plays modern rock (and some classic rock). Rock 101 plays just classic rock, which is why FMX doesn't have much to worry about with the other rock stations because technically there isn't another rock station. The same goes with z102. Yes we have 104.9 The Beat and Hot 97.3, but Z102 is the only official top 40 station here in the LBK, while 104.9 and 97.3 stick to hip-hop.

So my guess is that nothing will change...at least not anytime soon. One change that I wish would happen is that at least one of the stations around here will use RDS and actually scroll the name of the song thats playing rather than display just the station name.

Fair enough...you make very valid points, FMX...from what I heard in the 2 or 3 years that I spent in Lubbock has much better on-air talent, Bob and Tom are...well Bob and Tom and they do their thing well, Wes and Driver are staples in the community and have been there forever and in my own humble opinion...the night guy, Ethan...is fantastic and the best talent on the station. I just think being a big college town and all that a "New" Rock station ie..."The Edge" in Dallas would do very well in Lubbock. Also, you mentioned Z102 being the only true top 40 game in the market, why are they not getting a bigger piece of the pie, Mix seems to be all over them...who's doing mornings now at Z?

Thanks!
