99.5 went news talk and 104.1 is the rock of new orleans with new rock!!!!!! Thank god!!

I just want to see the african americans who got the surprise of their life.. expecting a Gospel, they got "loser" by Three Doors Down:)

I figured 94.9 would have flipped before 104.1 but Hallelujah :p

Apparently WRNO is now a Fox affliate News outlet

Here is an interesting thought. If 104.1's signal is able to reach Baton Rouge, how long do you think 104.9/104.5 will stay modern rock? Provided that CC stays with this format.

The problem is, CC is known for playing format roulette wheel on that frequency for one and technically they play most of the same music but the X is more of a true Alternative rock station, whereas the new 104.1 is more of a mainstream rocker... aiming after two different sets of people in a way (with the x after pre teen to college (25), whereas 104.1 is skewing a little older (closer to 30 IMO)

That and the X has a better signal in the northern part of the parish anyway....

Re: new rock lives in New Orleans again!!!!!

Rock + 1947' @ 100,000 watts = the WCKW days (From Biloxi to Lafayette)... Ok...I'm excited now...LOL

Let's hope this station's playlist stays fresher than Bayou's rancid selections.

RRyan sucks!

Yeah, he sucks. Houston sucks. Clear Channel sucks.:p :p :p :p :p :p :p

and a note on this new CC 104.1 format. its not that bad but its not all NEW rock.......... figures, these mega corps. will say anything to get us to believe. they are telling us their new rock, but they dont even come close. theyre force-feeding us rock that is mostly 10/15 years old, with some new stuff. and some of these songs got burned out on the end a long time ago.

their moniker should be ''NEW ORLEANS' ROCK/ALTERNATIVE STATION"

RFLA; Your lucky I loose the signal of 104.9 around lockport on the way south parrish.

actually...Houston doesn't suck. Rod Ryan does. too bad you guys get him again.

Just a thought...
With CC flipping WRNO to news/talk and also flipping KHEV to rock, why didn't they just keep WRNO as rock?? Maybe it has something to do with coverage areas or the like? Just seemd to me that with a legendary rock station such as WRNO, why not keep it as rock? If they would have fllipped KHEV to news/talk, they could have capitalized on those listeners trying to find 105.3 on their dial and accidently tuned in 104.1 since they are so close on the dial. Or maybe they just flipped WRNO to keep from looking like idiots after months of claiming they would be flipping.
Just my thoughts...

lol all of that is so true...........
either way, they still look like idiots. lol they shouldve kept RNO as rock.

my thoughts day 2. i listened at work today and yesterday. today i heard the EXACT same songs as yesterday. and i have hear man in the box at least 3 times. this is a typical cc station. its the same songs over and over again. but they are from 1995 instead of 1975...they have already lost me. clear channel sucks! bring back rock 92.3. i now return to my sirius radio show already in progress ;D

If I go south I loose it in about the same area on the car stereo..Actually get two alternatives If you want to call KNSU (College alternative) one... But that one is only about as good as 3 miles from campus...

104 the X hasn't been doing it for me at all. You can tell the station is more aimed at 18 than say a Generation Xer.

The Houma/Thibodaux area at least has KXOR which is mixing classic with new rock sort of like WCKW but the signal is limited due to it's protection of Martini 106.1 around New Orleans, 106.5 in Baton Rouge, and 106.3 over toward Lafayette... Basically the station can't make any real increases.

But I'm more of the Hard rock than some of the alternative... For my fix on the radio, mainly KXOR with skip from WUSW 103.7 from Hattiesburg and KFTE 96.5 from Lafayette

As someone said, would dominate WJBO in Baton Rouge possibly, plus there is no rock stations owned by Clear Channel in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. I find that CC when dealing with the 104 property, even though they aim the station at New Orleans (I would have aimed it to all of Southeast Louisiana ala WCKW) will try to keep from overlapping formats... Possibly why KISS and Mix started sucking a little more after the take over (and after the Jacor/ AM/FM buyouts)

Yeah it's the end of a legend I do agree and yeah one side wishes they would have kept it on WRNO 99.5, I'm still surprised on the about face on putting on any rock since pre-Katrina CC's holdings in NOLA were almost all (WNOE and WODT being the exceptions) african-american targeted.

Apparently they are looping, with a limited playlist and limited advertising.. I say let them build it up (as they are apparently adding material slowly) and then in say 2 weeks or so you can judge them then.

We all wish for a Rock 92.3, But unless you plan on finding the crew that made it the station, and willing to go independent owner on a station (and my psychic friends network hasn't come up with my lotto numbers yet :p) , it won't happen. I'm hoping for about what I hear on WUSW up in Hattiesburg or what I stream from Boston occasionally .. New rock lean with classics thrown in but Compared to Bayou's playlist, this is about 10 years later in aim not stopping at 2003 at least.
