how about give back the 1630 frequency and move kkgm to 1600.
 
Service won't remove Harvey, he has given them a major bump. Plus I have feeling that after Skip Murphey's contract expires he'll be done with Service and attempt to reunite the original SM&C (Nannette, Wig, Chris, and Sam) back together. To bad it probably won't be in this market, non-compete and all (unless they can get out of it and go to 94.5). That show is to good to be dead.

Did you forget that Radio One owns Joyner. So even if the TJMS sucks (which it does), 94.5 can't bring on all that extra salary.

So it will be a looooooooonnnnnnnnnnggggggggg time to hear the Skip Murphy and Crew morning show in DFW again.

Let me run an idea against you guys. Now I know this would take a miracle, but what if Service brought back SM&C on KRNB and ran them from 5-9 and taped delayed Harvey from 9-1. Again I know it could probably never happen, but I think that would instantly make KRNB a top 5. I would think Service would be crazy to let Skip just walk out the door and make money for another station. Don't you keep a huge commodity like that if you can?
 
But we are talking about Service.....
 
And honestly, some jocks work well only in a certain time slot. Baisden is nice (not great) on afternoon drive. Mornings? He would suck. Steve Harvey is a morning show. Tape delay wouldn't do him justice. I don't see why Skip can't do SM&C from his time slot now?! I would stop down for some of that.
 
VDV I agree with you, but Skip was the King of this market (along with Kidd) for years. Service messed that show up by trying to put personalities in the group that didn't fit. Even Nanette Lee saw that, that's why she became rebelious. All they needed to do is take them off of hip-hop and put them on R&B. SM&C needed to be put back in his proper spot in the mornings. He beat Harvey, so Harvey needs to make room for Skip.
 
But in a way that was already tried when Russ Parr got bumped to afternoons for Joyner on V100. Russ was and is a morning personality. So is Skip Murphy. Do you think Nannette and The Wig will come back to Service after the way they got treated on the air. Too much scorched earth going on here to repair.
 
That's a good question, I don't know what either one of them are doing now, but I'm sure it's not as good as they had on the show. After time has passed I would think they would come back for the greater good as long as it would be the original crew. But like buckwyl said Service probably wouldn't do it.

Question, let's say by some miracle Service does bring them back, do you think Harvey would allow his show be delayed? Would he have any power to keep that from happening?

If I remember correctly, Chris, Sam and Skip kinda went on the air and said why Wig and Nannette were let go. I don't know what was said but they pretty much called out Wig and Nannette. So I doubt they would reunite them on the air. It was great while it lasted, but its over now.
 
Unfortunately, he's right.

Nanette is enjoying too much national play with her comedy... ka-ching. The Wig, well, break out the milk carton. Who knows were he, and his chocolate milk mustachioed self, went?! I still think there is some great possibility for Skip to blow up what he is doing in his current time slot, reagrdless if he is a morning show guy trapped in an AMD shift.

As for Steve being allowed to bump, no way. His contract is amazing. He actually has a say in each market that he airs in. When he left BEAT in LA, total control is what he was after.

But why would Skip do that, no one has ever beat him. He's beaten Harvey, he's beaten Russ Parr twice and he's beaten Joyner. He was beating Smiley until Cheatem decided he wanted to do mornings. Murphey deserves mornings more then anyone else.
 
I just don't think that will happen in this market unless a station flips.
