New Russ Martin Details

Now that the detail has come out that the alleged victim is a female, I am curious about peoples opinions about if people will continue to listen.

An excerpt from the Southlake Police Department:

"According to the unnamed complainant, she and Martin engaged in a verbal altercation
that turned physical. She advised that Martin physically assaulted her and displayed a
pistol during the altercation. The woman reported the incident to police the following
day."

Since this board doesn't have a poll feature please cut and paste your answer into a reply.

1. Yes, innocent until proven guilty.

2. No, zero tolerance for hitting a woman.

3. Maybe, depends if he is found guilty or not.

My answer will be maybe but leaning toward no. If he comes on the air Tuesday and treats the issue as a joke and an attitude of "I am better than you" then I am out. I have zero tolerance for men hitting women for any reason and the way he has mentioned treating past/current girlfriends he is going to have a hard time continuing his innocence.
 
I am sure this was some fan that would not leave him alone .. This is how this kind of crap always gets out.. I am sure this is all made up just to get something started.. I can't imagine Russ hitting a woman.. I know he talks alot of crap but, come on do you really think he would do that?

He will never recover from this .. pointing gun at her is one thing.. laying his hands on her is different story.

Wonders why it took so long to pop him.. if this happened on Monday and she reported it Tues.. its not like Russ is hard to find ..

Could have been an altercation with a neighbor. Could have been crazy fan. Could have been Amy.

Doing something and being accused of doing something are two entirely different things!

You have already made up your mind. If I accused (insert local media type person) of hitting my mom - does that make it true??
 
Wow! Talk about a Karmic Backlash!

If all this I'm reading is true, and Russ hit ANY woman, I believe I'll be switching stations.
I feel like I've been betrayed by a buddy. :'(
I've been listening to Russ for a long time, and he's said over and over how he hates men who hit women.
His suggestion has always been to "push them down the stairs", and how he'd never do it, but he understands. It's always been a big joke. :-\

How can he go on the show Tuesday and do his regular material with this hanging over him?
I smell a leave of absence coming on.
 
Its funny to see how quick some people are to BURN THE WITCH... so to speak. I am not a fan of RM. I think he is a HUGE TOOL who is over-rated, overpayed and over his 15 minutes. Believe it or not... I was once a fan. Then I had an encounter with him and my attitude changed.

However, known of us know the facts. All we are hearing or reading is SUPPOSEDLY etc...

What needs to happen here, is that he needs to be placed on paid leave immediately. Let all of this play out and then and only then...once the facts are out for everyone to see or atleast managment.... that is when a final decision should be made. If this comes down to being the other persons fault. They caused this and RM was put in a position that he had to defend himself... then he will be cleared and back on the air. However, if it's the opposite... then he is immediately fired. No second chance, no counseling, no rehab.

Just because he is a HUGE TOOL... doesn't mean he is guilty.

Thats simply my two cents.

obviously the jury of the russ haters already found him guilty even before all the facts were presented
 
Wait a sec here...my question was will you continue to listen after todays details have come out.

I never assigned guilt or innocence. I just wanted an answer to my question not a group of people pointing fingers and starting a freaking witchhunt.

They fired Imus for calling the Rutgers women basketball team a bunch of nappy headed ho's.

They WILL fire Russ Martin for assulting his fiance with a weapon.
 
Based on the latest info from the police, I think it's safe to say Russ' radio career in Dallas, is over. There's no way this is a self-defense situation. Pulling someone's hair out is unacceptable, and so is throwing the person around the room.

Like I said before, I am neither fan nor foe of his show. I'm just calling it as I see it.
 
I suspect the Police debated long and hard pursuing this and only because of the over-whelming credibility of the person who filed the complaint did they ultimately pursue with the arrest.

Most officers are aware of Russ Martin and what he has done for the Police Community. So I am sure they did not take pursuing this lightly at all. In that respect it lends even more veracity to things in terms of this possibly happening.

If he hit and/or threatened his girlfriend with a gun, he deserves whatever he has coming to him. Clearly he is completely irresponsible to hold a CHL.
 
My question is....

Will this affect the numbers? (I know it's summer, but I believe they've spelled his name right.) Good, bad or indifferent.
